24.01.2022 it is a privilege to watch the native plants respond to a good season many plants not seen for years seem to magically appear even in really tough skeletal soils. One solution it seems is to be in miniature...here we collect a tiny bouquet! #magnificentnatives

21.01.2022 WINTER VENUE - JUBILEE HALL

21.01.2022 The Made n Grown Market Committee has made the difficult decision to postpone our monthly market on Saturday August 8th. The COVID-19 situation in NSW is chang...ing daily, and potentially escalating, and our main concern is for the safety of our stall holders, visitors, volunteers and our small community. We are all very disappointed, particularly after such a great market in July. As the situation evolves over the next few weeks, we will also assess our options for the rest of 2020 and keep everyone informed via our social media pages and by email. Thanks for your understanding. In the meantime, stay safe, maintain your hand hygiene, physical distancing and please consider others.

16.01.2022 Did you know that red-tailed black cockatoos enter their nests backwards? But thats not the only distinctive thing about them! We think there are only about 10...00 left in the wild in Australia, so protecting their breeding habitats is vital. If you were considering a development or any activity that may significantly impact upon this species or their habitat, you may need to refer your plans to @awegov for review under national environment law. 14.01.2022 We think ours is the FRIENDLIEST LITTLE MARKET in the Central West! Some people visit our monthly markets to stock up on locally made and grown products, artis...an goods and small livestock from our WIDE VARIETY OF STALL HOLDERS. Others come to have a bite to EAT and a COFFEE. As we emerge safely from isolation, we invite you to join us for a yarn and to reconnect with others from OUR COMMUNITY. We are required, by NSW Government and Warrumbungle Shire Council, to have Covid-19 Safety Plans in place, which will provide safety measures for all of us. We rely on your cooperation and commitment to help us make it an enjoyable day. WE WANT YOU BACK! #wewantyouback #madengrownmarket

09.01.2022 WINTER MARKET VENUE DECLARED A HUGE SUCCESS! Dunedoos Jubilee Hall was a warm and cosy escape from last weekends cold, rainy weather, and a great opportunity ...to enjoy our first Made n Growm Market since Covid-19 restrictions have been eased. We had a great variety of stall holders and delicious hot food and drinks available. Our visitors were entertained with live music and our Covid Queens gave out ballon swords to remind everyone about physical distancing in a fun way! Big thanks to our awesome stall holders, the Landcare and Made n Grown Committee members, community and Leos volunteers, and even some visiting friends, for helping out with making sure we ran a COVIDSafe market. We would also like to thank all our Market patrons for coming along and for their patience in helping us maintain everyones safety. DID YOU KNOW . . . Made n Grown Market is registered with the NSW Government as a COVIDSafe business and we would love you to give us some feedback on their website? https://www.nsw.gov.au/give-feedback-on-a-business

08.01.2022 The Junior Active Leader Landcare Program kicked off today with a bird spotting walk at the Dunedoo Woodlands. Although our feathered friends were hiding from the rain we found plenty to investigate - fungi, lichens, scar trees, white and grey box hollows..... Was great to see the boys checking out the uniqueness of our Woodlands with an enquiring mind. C u all next Tuesday, Sharon and Sally.

03.01.2022 Happy World Bee Day! Did you know, that as well as being an all round fantastic pollinator in our veggie gardens, our native bee species play a vital rol...e in the genetic variation, and therefore resilience, of our native vegetation? Having evolved along side for millions of years, there are no more effective pollinators for our native vegetation than our own native bees. Unfortunately, this symbiotic relationship can come under threat at times from the invasive Honey bee and poor land management habits; so what better time than World Bee Day to do a little good and give back to the bees that give so much! Below are our some of our favourite tips to Bee Friendly Gardening in your own patch. We would love to hear about other ways you are celebrating our beautiful pollinators today. Dont use pesticides. Most pesticides are not selective. By using pesticides, one risks killing off the beneficial insects along with the pests. If you must use a pesticide, start with the least toxic one and follow the label instructions to the letter. Use local native plants. Many native plants are very attractive to honeybees. They are also usually well adapted to your growing conditions and can thrive with minimum attention. In gardens, heirloom varieties of herbs and perennials should be used. Single-flower varieties may also provide good foraging. Use a range of colours. Bees have good colour vision to help them find flowers and the nectar and pollen they offer. Flower colours that particularly attract bees are blue, purple, violet, white and yellow. Plant flowers in clumps. Flowers clustered into clumps of one species will attract more pollinators than individual plants scattered through the habitat patch. Where space allows, make the clumps 1 m or more in diameter. Include flowers of different shapes. Open or cup-shaped flowers provide the easiest access and shorter floral tubes are important for honeybees. Other pollinators, including native bees, butterflies and birds, benefit from differing flower shapes. Have a diversity of plants, flowering all season. A varied diet is essential for the wellbeing of honeybees and other pollinators. Plant where bees will visit. Bees favour sunny spots over shade and need some shelter from strong winds. Provide accessible water. Bees need access to water. Provide easy access, either through wet sand or pebbles; do not drown the bees. 03.01.2022 Thank you, and Merry Christmas.

02.01.2022 Savernake Station is more than a property to landholder Helen Huggins. She was born there, she grew up there and she calls it home. BCT is proud to support Helen in her stewardship of Savernake so she can continue in managing her property for the protection of its biodiversity values.
