25.01.2022 Walk last Wednesday in Main Creek was a celebration of bird week and a chance for some of our walks members to experience a birding outing. I enlisted the help of husband David keen birder. They did a walk around birding hot spots in our garden then a walk up Cabbage Tree rd. 34 species were seen including the secretive log runner birds.



25.01.2022 A reminder of walk coming up this Thursday 27th February to Walka Water Works in Maitland. Meeting at Dungog Visitors Centre at 8am to car pool. 25.01.2022 Peter here. We are down in the Snowies and discovering that the Walking season doesn't start until Nov 16 as we found on the Mt Kosciuszo ascent. We made it to the Lookout but that was deep enough snow. It's a great area for walking though...we should have an expedition?

24.01.2022 Nicks mystery walk scheduled for this Wednesday 13th November will need to be postponed due to Nick being on fire duty and really not great conditions at the moment for bush walking.



22.01.2022 Walk up My Cooreei last Thursday. Serenaded by Robert at top. Thank you David Fife Jackson for leading us. Steep climb with sense of accomplishment and great company.

18.01.2022 Lake Macquarie Mayor Kay Fraser today announced a 3.5km extension to the Fernleigh track connecting Belmont with Blacksmiths beach. The NSW Go...vernment will contribute over $7 million for the track with council covering the remaining funds to ensure the track’s completion. Construction is due to start next financial year and the project could be completed by 2023.



17.01.2022 End of year walk and Christmas lunch thanks to Dan at Wangat lodge. Complete with a rare sighting of the Dawdler Floaters in the Platypus swimming hole. Thanks everyone for the lovely food and here's to good walking in 2020.

16.01.2022 A great morning walking on Dungog Common. Ken introduced us to some proposed new walking tracks on Common. Great company beautiful scenery and knowledgeable friends along who can identify amazing treats such as patch of amazing little orchids.

16.01.2022 A nice easy walk and a bit of a history lesson on the famous Walka Water works in Maitland yesterday and of course a coffee to finish. Thank you David and Rosemary for leading the way.

14.01.2022 Lovely walk today at Eaglereach. Walk drops down from top and down on along cliff face, then popping back up near Mt George lookout. Stunning scenery with out look and the magnificent grass trees. Thank you David FJ for leading and a great day out. Finished off day a perfect with lunch and coffee at Vacy General Store



14.01.2022 Walkers please see below directive from Sport and Recreation our umbrella organisation all walks through our walking group have been suspended until further notice. Keep well and hope to see you down the track at some stage. As a result of the various Government restrictions announced over the last few days, the Minister’s Office has confirmed suspension of Office of Sport Walking for Pleasure group walks until further notice. 13.01.2022 Update from yesterdays notice of walks, Whispering Gully walk this coming Tuesday 17th March has been postponed. Will notify when a new date has been arranged. Walk to Tawny Frogmouth swimming hole tomorrow is still on

11.01.2022 We wind up our walking calendar for the year with a walk and lunch at Wangat Lodge this Thursday 5th December. Dan from Wangat is leading our walk and then very kindly providing a bbq. If you would like to join us can you please RSVP by Wed for numbers for bbq and we ask you bring either a sweet or savory dish to share. Hope you can make it, great spot on the river, good company with fellow walkers,and of course our Christmas bbq feast.

07.01.2022 Due to extreme weather conditions the walk this coming Thursday 21st Nov to Fernleigh/Glenrock/Merwether has been cancelled. Hopefully we will be able to do this wonderful walk after some good rainfall next year

04.01.2022 Now the fire hazard has lessen within the shire we can now think about planning a calendar of walks from now until the end of June. If you have any favourite walks you would like to do again or a suggestion for new walk we would like to hear from you. You may want to step up and be a leader. We envisage getting new calendar out in the next couple of weeks so once again we can be out there pounding the tracks and trails

03.01.2022 It is Bird week and to celebrate and learn we are having 2 walks which are all about discovering the birds around us. First walk is this Wednesday 23rd October at Main Creek. Meeting at Dungog Visitors Centre 8.30am to car pool out to 877 Main Creek Rd Main Creek. My husband David is the keen birder so he will be along to help find and identify the 'feathered friends'. The will be an easy walk, a little explore on our property then a walk up Cabbage Tree Road to see what is to be discovered. The second walk is on Sunday 27th October meeting at 72 Common Rd Dungog 8.30am to explore some of the Dungog Common for bird life. David will be along again to help out. If you have a pair of binoculars bring along. Hope to see you along

03.01.2022 Tomorrow's walk should be good. Don't forget your swimmers just in case we have some water in the Williams. We will be walking past the best swimming hole in the known universe. See you at 8.30 am at the DVIC.

01.01.2022 A reminder of our upcoming walks in March. This coming Saturday 14th March is walk to Tawny Frogmouth swimming hole on Telegherry River, meeting at Dungog Visitors Centre 8.30am to car pool to Main Creek. This is a medium 6km walk with the opportunity to have a dip in the river if you like. Great opportunity to walk in our some of our amazing fresh green forest. Next Tuesday 17th March is walk to Whispering Gully led by Dan. Great chance to explore some of the beautiful hig...h country up Wangat way. Meeting at Dungog Visitors Centre at 8am to car pool to Wangat. This is a medium to hard 6km walk. Sunday 22nd March is the Paterson historical walk with Cameron Archer meeting at Paterson Courthouse Museum at 1pm. This is an easy 5km walk and such a great opportunity to delve into Paterson's history with the very well informed Cameron. Hope you can join in on all or some of these walks
