23.01.2022 The Good LC3 (now named Caroline) that I dragged back from a farm is a great thing I got her running today it didn't take much. I needed an ign key for her and ...went and got my box full of old keys you won't believe the third key I tried fitted!!!!! Sometimes things just go your way. So she started straight up after a bit of preparation. Fuel pump (which i'd temporarily bypassed) started spewing mega old fuel out. So pump works. I flushed out the tank and pump. I'll put fuel in the tank tomorrow and hoping to drive her. See more

20.01.2022 I'm lucky enough to own a couple of awesome Morris Commercial LC trucks. LC4 1952/3 and LC5 1954/60. I thought it'd be nice to get the LC3 model. So if I'm goin...g to do one up it may as well be an icon. I knew the movie 'Babe' about a talking pig that wants to be a Sheepdog (quite famous and Australian made, By Kennedy Miller productions) had the character 'Farmer Hogget' who drove one throughout the movie. So what happened to it? 25 years since it was made, so my search began. I started with Google (of course) found it was made in the Southern Highlands of N.S.W in the town of Robertson. So looked up phone numbers for the car fraternity and old machinery groups in the area, I found a name and called. Got my first lead of a Robertson local who 'helped' during production was a great guy and told me 48 pigs were used to make the movie as they all grew so fast, I learned that all were females too as their nuts stuck out too much to film this fellow also said "You know I was tasked with burying the original Babe...she was considerably bigger by then and I know exactly where". I thought at least your not telling me you bloody ate it . I was then put on to his life long buddy 'Jim' whos property had been used to build some of the most used sets on the fictitious farm, namely the barn and farmhouse kitchen. I was told that when last seen the truck was sitting in the big shed built by film crews many years ago. I thought at least Jim would know where it went to after fiming. Jim was very helpful and told me whilst some bits were left behind the truck was taken by the production company. I contacted the office and left a message and I recieved no call back... no shock there. I spoke to a Bloke from Tasmania whom I'd chanced upon through a Morris Commercial page... he told me he'd tried to buy the Tan 'Babe' truck after filming and it just got too hard and it dissapeared. He told me it may have gone to the New England area of N.S.W but couldn't be more specific. Through messenger I spoke with a younger bloke who'd mowed lawns for the production company as a 14 year old "Best Coin he'd ever earned" he said. He remembered the truck but had no idea where it went. Another chap said sadly it'd gone to scrap!!! WHAT??? NOOOOO after all this, this cannot be what happened. I posted asking for help on HCVC page on good old facebook asking for leads. I got some, one was to find a couple of Gay blokes (not that theres anything wrong with that) in Berry as they had a lot of stuff from the movie at their house as sited back in 2002... a long way back now and a long shot. I could not find who they were. Another lead from a fellow Graeme that just said look up this blokes name... no other comment. I looked for him, anything, found a mention of his name on a town website but no number. I didn't even know at this stage how or if he could help or even if he existed. I messaged back to Graeme, he said here's his number he's my cousin but still no details. So I rang this bloke he said "That was a Morris commercial wasn't it?" I said "yes" he had my attention. He didn't know where it was either. I told him the rumours he said "I know a few blokes who may know I'll ring them and ask the question" so so good Hopes were up. I got a call back and It's the call I'd been wanting for... the answer!!! "G'day mate, I've got good news and bad news" I said "Oh yeah", he says "The good news is the Truck is alive and well and runs like a clock, the bad news is that as we speak it's on the back of a truck heading for South Australia to appear in another movie so I don't think theres much hope of you being able to buy it." I felt happy! It wasnt scrapped, I was also informed its been in other movies since so its continued to work. Amazing news. It was apparently used in a movie set in WW11 with Angelina Jolie called Unbroken. I'd imagined I could have been purchasing a wreck and having the joy of restoring and owning the Iconic 'Babe truck', but thats not how this long winded story ends. I get the yarn to tell about a Truck built in 1948 that is a movie star and still works until this day. A lot of effort and lots of chatting to a great bunch of blokes who I was honered to talk to. I'd like to thank every one of you that helped me look. I didn't use names as I didn't ask if I could. Good result... thanks for reading Brad Dunn See more
