25.01.2022 Saturday afternoons B grade clash against Saint Mary’s will be a big match versus the top side...an important game to win and game 150 for Wayne Perna. Perns came to the club in 2004 and slotted straight into a B grade premiership in what was one of the strongest sides to grace the field in Bs for DCC. Then backed it up the following year with yet another premiership in arguably the most famous of all DCC premierships...the Thirsty Thirds. Not a bad start to what’s been a 16... year career at DCC. In that time he’s played in all 3 grades and left his mark on each side. You’d think for a guy being at a cricket club for 16 years there would be more than 3 photos of him but that is typical of Perns. Off field he is a quiet and unassuming guy and just goes about his business. On field he is also quiet although his general affection for the opposition is quite evident when there is a dispute...or you’re Jono Lloyd! Wayne doesn’t splash out on the newest bats and doesn’t need to. He has hit 2976 runs @ 21.98 with a highest score of 115. He’s generally made his runs batting through the middle order including scoring 12 x 50s and 2 centuries. In a game against Nannup though the skipper insisted Perns was good enough to move up the order and bat at number 3 much to Perns disliking. It worked however and he notched up a ton! He has set a few records at DCC including holding 2 batting partnership records in C grade for the 5th wicket (127 runs with Dave Begley) and 7th wicket (72 runs with John Ferguson) both made in the 2011/12 season. He’s also joined the rare club of DCC players to have made a diamond duck! Across his career he’s most often seen behind the stumps when taking the field. He’s been a reliable keeper taking 115 catches and 12 stumpings. But he has been known to bowl, taking 13 wickets @ 33 with best figures of 3/39. All the best this weekend Perns. Hopefully you can have a day out and celebrate a win with the boys!
24.01.2022 Another big milestone was reached recently at DCC with Benny Danaher Benda notching up game 100 last weekend in the 2nd T20 game vs Cowaramup. He’s been at the club for 7 years and in that time has played across all 3 grades and played his part in 3 premierships in 16/17, 17/18 and the inaugural T20 GF. He’s at home batting up the top of the order and takes on the bowlers with some big hitting. He’s hit 1092 runs with a highest score of 68. He rarely bowls and has only take...n 4 wickets at the club, but has best figures of 2/18. Not bad for a guy that also takes the gloves! He can be easily spotted in the field with his favourite terry towelling hat on...which is not ideal when there are photographers around! His fielding efforts are well documented at DCC but with over 20 catches to his name and a handful of run outs he has proven he can actually field. He’s a great guy to have around the club, always having a laugh and a beer (usually posts about it on Instagram), and puts his hand up to help out whenever he can. He loves a dress up and has the most lookalikes of any player at the club! He’s been on the committee, in charge of the canteen, Treasurer, Vice Pres, coordinator of the Social T20 and even stepped in to coach the junior girls team. He’s a legend of a bloke and we congratulate him on playing 100 games for the club. Congrats Benda

11.01.2022 DCC Round 5 update: A grade: DCC 85 (Purcell 32, King 14) MRH 1-86 (McGowan 1/22) Very forgettable day for the A grade side on Saturday. Not too much to report. Good to see the young fellas in Brodie Gould, Mikki B and Alex Cooke continuing to gain experience in A greade. DCC won the toss, batted, got out. Bowled and Margies got the runs quickly. Looking forward to next weekend the A grade boys will be heading to Barnard to face St Mary’s... B grade: DCC 7-180 (Cadd 67, Watts 40) Vasse 9-181 (McClymont 3fa) An extremely unfortunate day for the B grade boys. Andy surprisingly won the toss and we batted. Both openers out early to some absolute peaches. From there Ben Cadd, Raymond Pez and Sebastian Watts put on 140ish. Setting 180 we definitely thought we had a par score. The bowling started well with Nathan McClymont taking 3 wickets in 4 balls. Vasse were 4-22 and we looked on top. When we had Vasse at 9-128 it looked over. However nervous fielding and pressure in the field building Vasse didn’t lose the last wicket chasing the last 50odd runs. Very frustrating finish. B’s head to Barnard to face St Mary’s as well. C Grade: DCC 9-249 (B Siney 85, Carrol 52) YOBs 171 (Smith 2-28, J Carter 2-16, S Watson 2-19) C grade had a very dominate performance on the weekend with the Christmas Carrol combination once again putting on an 89 run partnership for the first wicket. Christmas did everyone a favour by running out Darcy thus saving all of us from the breakdown of every run. Bruce Siney was very un Siney and hit a run a ball 87 and set up a WHOPPING 249 off 40 overs. With Chris Dudley leading the team and being the team man with a mammoth score, all bar one player had a bowl. Great thinking Dudds. Wickets and overs were spread around and the boys got an easy win. Well done lads!!

05.01.2022 It’s a big weekend ahead for DCC as we welcome back A grade for the 2020/21 season. The match is made even more special as one of the club greats, Philip Watts, joins an elite group at DCC and notches up game 200. As the side takes on Yobs at the playing fields on Saturday Phil becomes the 17th player to achieve the feat at the club. This much loved player is known to some as the Ice Man, Rowdy, Mr G or just...Wattsy. He’s been part of 3 premierships at DCC and a valuable con...tributor for many years. In the 2013/14 season Phil took 2 x 6 wicket hauls and made 2 x 100s show casing his all round ability. At the wind up he deservedly took all 5 x B grade trophies home including the Cricketer of the Year in what would have to be his stand out season of his career so far! He has now amassed 3238 runs @20.23, including 2 x 100s and 14 x 50s with a highest score of 111. He also holds the club’s record A grade batting partnership for the 5th wicket with Chris Dudley of 133 runs. He’s taken 109 wickets @11.61, with 2 x 5wi and best figures of 6/13 v Cowaramup in 2013/14. Phil stands out as one of the club's best fielders with 74 catches, 11 run outs and...13 stumpings to his name. A true all rounder!! Not only is he a great cricketer but a top guy and an asset to the club. He has served on the committee for many years and is always first to put his hand up to help. This weekends game will be the 583rd with a member of the Watts family (Peter, Nic, Phil and Seb)! Phil’s dad, Peter, is an inaugural life member of the club and will no doubt be joined by Phil with that honour in the future. Good luck to the A grade side, good luck Wattsy and hopefully we see you celebrate with some runs .
04.01.2022 Congratulations to Alex Coultas who this weekend plays game 50 for the club. In his 6 seasons after being plucked from our social T20 competition he has played across the 3 grades and collected 2 premierships along the way. He has scored 938 runs at an average of 16.27 with 5 x 50s, falling agonisingly short of his maiden century for DCC with a top score of 98. His bowling has been economical with 37 wickets @ 11.61 and best figures of 4/17. He’s also been a standout fielder,... taking 17 catches and 2 run outs. He’s a top bloke and great guy to have around the club. Congrats Al. Get around him this weekend and get the win!
04.01.2022 DON’T FORGET!!! Player auction tomorrow night after training. Bring ya mates and DEFINITELY bring your coin!
