This quarry was one of the first adopters of SDBs back in 1984, progressively changing all their conventional OEM bodies on their CAT777 fleet to SDBs and was able to reduce the number of trucks from nine to seven due to the improved productivity. Duratray is looking forward to support this valued customer over the next three decades and more. (Photo from 1988).

08.01.2022 Did you know that Chuquicamata, located 1,650km north of Santiago, Chile, is the second deepest open-pit mine in the world? Commonly known as Chuqui, the mine is 4.3km long, 3km wide and more than 850m deep. Despite almost 100 years of intensive exploitation, Chuquicamata, run by Chilean state enterprise Codelco, remains among the largest known copper resources in the world. Duratray, as Conymet in Chile, has commissioned dump bodies for Chuqui since 1984. In the photo, a Duratray Lightweight XP Steel dump body in Codelco, Chuquicamata.

08.01.2022 Management of noise is an ongoing issue for the mining industry as prolonged exposure to high levels of noise can result in permanent damage to hearing for mine operators and have negative impacts in the community. The Duratray SDB is designed to reduce loading noise from all mining trucks fitted. Testing undertaken in various operations have resulted on a reduction of linear and weighted sound levels between 8 to 10 dB on haul trucks fitted with Duratray SDBs. 05.01.2022 Articulated Dump Trucks (ADTs) are often used in soft conditions where their 6x6 traction is a distinct advantage. Those soft conditions are also often associated with carryback of wet and cohesive materials. Responding to client requests, Duratray International has designed high-capacity Suspended Dump Bodies (SDBs) to suit ADT trucks such as the Caterpillar 740B, Komatsu HM400, and the Volvo A40G. Not only do the SDB bodies greatly reduce or eliminate the problems of carryback, they have higher volumetric capacity to compensate for the low density materials typically hauled by ADT trucks.
