22.01.2022 This is so relevant in every industry, including grooming. I am frequently pushed to rush thru a job and criticised for taking the time the dog requires me to take - yes, I can only go as fast as your dog will allow me to! And so much goes on behind the scenes, organising other appointments, training and tuition, juggling work and mum life, care and upkeep of my office, equipment and tools and so much more. Maybe you can get your dog groomed cheaper somewhere else, and that's ok too I won't haggle prices with you, but I will do the best I can to make your pet look and feel their best.

20.01.2022 It's been so long since I've posted pics, and I've been too busy to get too many photos, but here's a few I have managed to snap. Thanks Misty, Sonny, Boris, Skye, Luna, Polly, Cuddles, Monty & Mitsy

19.01.2022 Handsome Guoca isn't the biggest fan of being groomed. However, with regular appointments allowing plenty of time to do the best we can, he is slowly getting better and we're able to get more and more achieved with each groom. Very proud of you beg fella

17.01.2022 It's definitely crazy season! For many reasons beyond my control I won't be taking on any more bookings until further notice. All existing bookings and my regular appointments will continue as normal, but I will have to close my books to new clients for the time being. It's a tough decision to make, but being a one man show, I'm only able to do so much. I'm happy to refer you to some other lovely groomers in nearby towns if you need.

17.01.2022 Grass Seeds If you live in a rural area, keep an eye out for grass seeds (or ‘awns’) over spring and summer. For our pets, grass seeds are more than just annoyi...ng they can become painful foreign bodies, causing infection and requiring veterinary treatment. Some grass seeds have sharp tips and backwards-facing barbs, which are unfortunately perfect for getting embedded in your pet’s tissues and migrating in deeply. Pets who run through tall grass are most at risk, particularly breeds with dense medium-length fur that traps seeds against the skin. Grass seeds most frequently get stuck in animal’s eyes, paws, ears or airways, and therefore common symptoms can include: A puffy, red, weeping eye, which is too sore to open. A sore swollen area between your pet’s toes, which your pet may lick a lot. A sore ear canal, often with discharge. Unusual respiratory sounds, such as nostril snorting (which may be accompanied by nasal discharge), gagging or persistent coughing. If your pet is showing any of these symptoms during grass seed season, it’s best to book an appointment with one of our vets as soon as possible. If caught early enough, we may be able to remove the seed in a consultation using small surgical forceps. If your pet is in a lot of pain, or the seed has migrated more deeply, your pet will need an anaesthetic for surgical treatment. To help prevent grass seed foreign bodies, groom your pet weekly to minimise their coat thickness. For longer-haired pets, consider clipping their fur short to help you spot grass seeds early.

05.01.2022 PARVOVIRUS CASES IN SURROUNDING AREAS There has been an influx in canine parvovirus cases in the area. Parvovirus is an extremely contagious and potentially ...fatal virus that induces vomiting and bloody diarrhea, resulting in dehydration, lethargy, septicemia and in severe cases death Parvovirus can be spread via direct contact with an infected dog, faeces or indirect contact via items like; water and food receptacles, collars, leads and even hands or clothing that have been in contact with an infected dog Parvovirus can remain active in soils for years. This is why it is crucial that in particular dogs that are exposed to parks, walking tracks and high traffic pet areas vaccinations are always kept up to date Young dogs less than 12 months of age are most susceptible; however any un-vaccinated dog that is exposed can contract the virus. If you notice your dog: Has a decreased appetite Vomiting Diarrhea Lethargic Please have a vet check them over ASAP! We would also like to remind all our clients that this virus can easily be prevented with a course of vaccinations If you are unsure about your puppy or adult dog’s vaccination status then please give us a call on (07) 4992 1814 and one of our friendly staff will be happy to discuss it with you!

05.01.2022 Boarding your Dog Going on holidays should be one of the most exciting times, however leaving your loved furry friend with someone you don't know can be a d...aunting task Different facilities have different prerequisites for boarding and talking to them is the easiest way to establish what is required, always remember you can go have a look at the facility before boarding your pet Pet's vaccination status must be up to date, with reputable kennels requiring written proof from your veterinarian If the facility does not require any vaccination requirements then this could indicate an inappropriate standard of care to your pet It is also ideal to have your flea & worming treatments up to date as well Things to consider for your pet!!! - Is the facility clean? How often will your pets enclosure be cleaned? Where will your pet be housed whilst cleaning is being completed? - Are the pets that are currently boarding relaxed and comfortable? Is there adequate shelter for them day & Night? Will they be supplied with appropriate bedding (raised bed, elevated off the cement floor)? -How often will your pet be fed & Exercised? What will they be fed? Where will they be exercised and for how long? Will they be exercised alone? (You want to ensure your pet is not being put in a position with potentially aggressive dogs that are not well socialized or unfamiliar with!!!) What happens if your pet becomes sick or gets injured? When do they contact you if your pet is unwell? When do they contact the veterinarian? Are all other boarders vaccinated? Do the boarding team members have a genuine interest in pet care? Will they be able to administer medication if required? Did they ask about your pet's particular needs or behavior so their team can make them feel as comfortable as possible?

02.01.2022 Looking for expressions of interest in dog training fortnightly or monthly (depending on numbers) within Biloela on a Saturday morning. I would do two or three ...x 40 min classes (max 6 dogs per class), one of which would be basic obedience, one would be teaching tricks, and if needed one would be another session of whichever class ran out of space. The cost would be $150 for 8 classes. Individual lessons would be available to be organised around the class times. Please let me know if you are interested.
