24.01.2022 We love this this advice!! #Repost @plasticbraincompany I dislike this kind of offensively simple advice. Just the audacity of oh, dont do things that make you sad, do things that make you happy how about you just shut your cake hole it cant be that easy (you idiot) Id reply.... If your reaction was this seems like a load of bullshit, mine was too. This is dumb, its just too easy, right? No, wrong (here we go ) its not that easy, in fact its actually very hard. Thats why you dont want to do. Firstly, you need to identify who, what, when makes you happiest and who, what, when doesnt... This process is terrifying because the harsh reality of compiling a list like this is that it will punch you in the place where your heart used to be. You may have to reconcile the fact that your mother, brother, partner, job, dog or kid makes you feel less happy. Ouch. You will have to take responsibility for divvying your life up into keep or delete. This binary way of looking at happiness will have you add or subtract. Thats why you really dont want to do it. Its gut-wrenchingly painful. Once you have your list you will have to decide to do something with it, or not. Heres the kicker, if you do something about it and attempt to increase the happy and reduce the unhappy- great right? Well, yes great for you. There will be collateral damage all over the place. The people, places and times you have left behind will likely let you know with their bitching, crying and guilt-flinging tirades that you are a certified selfish bastard. Congrats. Sounds, heavy. What if I just make my list and chill? Cool thats great for everyone who needs the convenience of keeping you around as you are, unchanged, spineless and agreeable. I cant imagine any negative side effects from spending the rest of your days in a perpetual downward spiral of increasing unhappiness and misery. That usually works out absolutely fine . Meh. So, pick one. Dont get all bummed out at me either, youre the one who thought it was too easy. _ Follow @plasticbraincompany _

17.01.2022 I know this feeling so much with my personal journey with becoming a parent. I have friends going through this journey and I admire their strength and will always be their for their heartaches however they need me to be. I also have friends that fall pregnant at the drop of a hat and see how heartbreaking it is to watch their friends struggle. It tests your friendships more than you know. ... Dont forget the blokes who have to watch their partners go through their journey. JB xoxo "Does anybody else feel like this comment is a trigger? . Perhaps like one giant slap in the face? . Thank you for sharing your supportive comment, but just this once can this be all about ME? And yes, Im strong. But thats only because I have to be. I dont get a choice. . What might come easy for you, is hard for me. A battle that yes has given me strength beyond words, but it has also given me other emotions I never thought I could feel while trying to conceive. . Such as heartache, pain, sadness, anger & jealousy. . My turn to share? . Yes, you could handle what Im going through. You would climb mountains. You would surprise yourself with what youre capable of. . Because you wouldnt have a choice. You wouldnt know any other story. You wouldnt know any other you. . Just like I dont know any other me. . Yes I may be strong. But thats only because I have to be. . Next time, dont say "I could never handle what youre going through", but instead perhaps say "beautiful lady, I absolutely admire your strength. Im sorry I dont understand your path but know that I will always be your light when the darkness falls". 17.01.2022 Sometimes stepping out into the open can be daunting. You are always uncertain about how people will react to your life choices. Your decisions. And the reasoning behind them. No matter the reason, the utter fear of judgement deters many people from opening up about whats going on in their head. We made a quote post from our Dark Minds book that Suicide isnt about wanting to end your life. Its about ending the pain. Two of my amazing friends said to me yep. Thats accur...ate. At first I was shocked and then I was disappointed with myself for not checking in more often and for accepting their Im ok as gospel. Ive learnt a lot since then about asking the right open ended questions and knowing when Im ok needs a phone call more than a simple message. I still dont always get it right and my mates sometimes dont want to burden me with whats in their heads, I suppose the big difference now is that weve had our awkward conversation and they feel comfortable calling me when they feel confident too. JB xoxo So this September, make your #suicideprevention mission about having that #awkwardconversation you never know, you may save someones life.

15.01.2022 So weve been on the road today... dealing with our own muck ups and exploring the towns and surrounds after a run home to Hopetoun this week. 13.01.2022 Have you thought about someone lately and thought "I wonder how they are going?" To me thats always a sign to check in and say hi. No matter how far apart we are or how crazy life is or even how long its been since youve spoken. Sometimes it just takes that one person to reach out to know that you are worth it, or to even pull someone out of a funk. I think sometimes we forget that Mental health well-being isnt about preventing suicide, its about helping people know that ...they are cared for and belong in our everyday life. So I know that I am a bit behind with #checkonyourmatemonday but dont wait to check on ya mate! Its never too late to check on ya mate. I mean has anyone checked in on @mark_mcgowan_mp lately? #menslineaustralia #rurallivesmatter #ruralmentalhealthwa #ruralmentalhealthaus #mentalhealthwarrior #itsoktonotbeok #farmweekly #mentalhealthwa #ruralwa #comhwa #youthfocuswa #waamh #markmcgowan #healthconsumerswa #kickupthedust #diamondsintherough #dustyroadswa #rogercookmla #mensmentalhealth #agconnectwa #cwa #headspacewa #mates4mates #blokespsychology #jimmysshed #blokepedia #mensshedsaustralia #beyondblue #ruralhelplinefoundation
13.01.2022 How exciting is this! Journaling in whatever form is one of the greatest things we can do for ourselves in hard times and good to help us not only reflect and show balance, but also to help us get out of our own minds and begin to heal. Living in regional areas can sometimes make it hard to access supplies, and not everyone has the means to purchase online materials. Not to mention how overwhelming or confusing it can be to start!... So for the Month of September, we will be collecting Journals and journaling materials to distribute to those who want to learn! 13.01.2022 Social anxiety disorder, also referred to as social phobia, is a mental health disorder characterized by significant anxiety. This anxiety is caused by overwhelming, irrational fears of being scrutinized by others in social situations. Social anxiety disorder is a serious mental health disorder that affects a persons ability to function in life. Unfortunately, it often goes undiagnosed and untreated. This is largely due to the many social anxiety misconceptions and myths tha...t people believe to be true. Many people are shy or afraid of at least some social situations, such as public speaking. People with social anxiety disorder experience anxiety that is out of proportion to the social situation. Affected individuals will go to great lengths to avoid participating in social activities. #menslineaustralia #rurallivesmatter #ruralmentalhealthwa #ruralmentalhealthaus #mentalhealthwarrior #itsoktonotbeok #farmweekly #mentalhealthwa #ruralwa #comhwa #youthfocuswa #waamh #markmcgowan #healthconsumerswa #kickupthedust #diamondsintherough #dustyroadswa #rogercookmla #mensmentalhealth #agconnectwa #cwa #headspacewa #mates4mates #blokespsychology #jimmysshed #blokepedia #mensshedsaustralia #beyondblue #ruralhelplinefoundation

Your Language Matters ... . Suicide is a mostly preventable cause of death and an important issue for communities to engage with. It is important to ensure discussions are helpful, based on accurate information and likely to lead to people feeling more empowered. . While we are seeing incredible amounts of awareness being spread which is amazing right now, it is crucial to make sure that what we are sharing isnt disrespectful and insensitive to families and friends who are bereaved by suicide. . There is one simple thing all of us can do to help reduce the stigma around suicide. That is, stop using the c word. . People dont commit suicide. . It is common to hear those two words togethercommit and suicide. We cringe when we hear it. Its hard to believe, but there was a time when suicide was considered a crime. Its even harder to believe that it wasnt that long ago. In Victoria, it was only with the Crimes Act of 1958 that attempting suicide was no longer recognised as a criminal act. Before this, if a person took their own life, they could be refused a funeral or even have their possessions confiscated. Not to mention the scrutiny their family or friends were left to carry. . They didnt commit a crime. They died experiencing an unbearable amount of emotional pain. They are not criminals, they are not less than because of their actions. . Life is not a race, its not a competition but if it was, I sure as hell wouldnt want just a participation medal, Id want a bloody huge cup to hoist up in the air and to scream "Yeeeaaaaaa! Look at what I did!" Be proud of you, be proud of all the little things as well as the big things. Be your biggest and loudest cheer squad.
