This Friday, at 11:00am, those at College can meet in the courtyard wearing some jeans to support this charity. Jade will collect a gold coin donation and take some photos of... everyone. If anyone at home wants to contribute to this charity, there is a donation page set up below...

17.01.2022 Looking to become part of Duval 2021 or looking forward to returning to the Duval Family?? We thought we would introduce you to some of the leaders that make up this close knit, welcoming and encouraging community!!! Introducing you today to our Residential Student Leader for 2021 - Chloe Bunter!!! Hometown: Gilgandra, NSW ... Degree: I am studying a Bachelor of Rural Science Best part of the Degree: Rural Science gives me the chance to look at every part of the Agricultural jigsaw, from genetics to sustainability, to soil science and meat science, agronomy, statistics, biochemistry, nutrition and management. I love that it doesn't limit me and sets me up for a career here in Australia or overseas. My favourite Duval college event: any weekend spent as land crew for the Kayaking club, camping with mates while raising money for the Arrow Bone Marrow Foundation. My favourite College moment: the random last-minute adventures with friends and the conversations over the dinner table that unexpectantly last for hours and you leave sore from laughter My advice to First years: in those first few weeks leave your door open and talk to those that walk by, if you overhear a conversation that interests you join in. That’s how I made most of my friendships that now I don't know what I would do without!!! The greatest memories came from the simplest and most unexpected things.

16.01.2022 As we are coming to the end of the Trimester break, we are reminiscing back to Parents weekend.... here are just a few of many lovely photos. It was so lovely to meet all the parents and catch up with the ones we have met before!

15.01.2022 We get a bit sentimental when the students have gone home for the remainder of the year. Here is a #memoryformonday back when Duval College had no front office and green grass! Any guesses to what year this was?

15.01.2022 We’d like to share the work we’re doing to keep academic programs running smoothly in these very uncertain times. Thankfully, no UNE staff or students have test...ed positive for COVID-19, but we are doing our part to avoid activities involving large groups of people and/or travel. This means: We have postponed April/June intensive schools and are making alternative arrangements We are providing advice on various pracs, placements and professional experience We are moving all courses online, including assessments and exams, in the coming weeks We know you'll have lots of questions, and we ask you to keep an eye on Moodle for answers tailored to you. You may also wish to contact your unit co-ordinator or placement office. Our key message is: We are striving to ensure no student is disadvantaged by the rapid changes required to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. We know this is a time of significant disruption and stress, and we are here to support you with viable options for your studies to progress. General updates: www.une.edu.au/coronavirus-information

15.01.2022 Duvalians....competitive? Our middle name is winning! Lets get creative Duval! #duvaliansdeliver

14.01.2022 Country boy, Nigel (Ned) moved to Duval College after he received the Scott Williams Opportunity Scholarship. He used it as a springboard to career success. He now demonstrates the far-reaching impact of educational philanthropy among his own clients. "To receive Scott's scholarship in my first year was a wonderful financial benefit," Nigel says. "He subsequently continued his scholarship and generosity over the next three years, which allowed me to attend college throughout ...my studies. That college experience really built me as a person, by enabling me to fully immerse myself in the UNE community and all it had to offer." If any Duval Alumni would like to ensure others get the Duval College experience, and want to take advantage of EOFY - please see the following link. https://www.une.edu.au/alumni/give-to-une Read more about Nigel's story here https://www.une.edu.au/alumni/UNE-People/nigel-campbell

13.01.2022 Another important member of the Duval Family for 2021 is our Deputy Residential Leader, introducing Josie Clare!!! Hometown: Muswellbrook Degree: Bachelor of Criminology/Law... About the degree and career aspirations: My favourite things about my degree is that I get to look at various elements that make up the Criminal Justice System and better understand why criminal activities take place in society. I would really love to work for the ASIO, Federal Police or possibly working with children in the Criminal Justice System. I think that these areas would involve dealing with different things everyday which would mean it would never be boring! Plus it’s a job where you get to travel which I also love to do! Favourite College Event: My favourite college event would probably be either Commencement or Ball. They’re both a lot of fun! Favourite College Memory: I don’t really have a favourite memory because there’s way too many! I think that at college you make so many fun memories that it’s hard to pinpoint one in particular! My favourite memories however, usually involve friends, a couple of beverages and a lot of laughs! Best Advice: My advice to Duval First Years would be to just have fun and make the most of college whilst you are here. It honestly goes much quicker than you think so get involved in as much as you can! On a more practical note, definitely bring a fan and a powerboard!

12.01.2022 Duvalians - check out some events for the rest of the week.

12.01.2022 Big Congratulations to Duval PT bringing the trophy home this year!! AND great job to the Duval girls for coming second in MB!! Thankyou to everyone who participated and supported, what a great year of MB/PT

12.01.2022 Duval Kayaking Club has a long history of supporting the Arrow Bone Marrow Foundation through our participation in the 111km Hawkesbury Canoe Classic. Unfortunately this year the Classic was cancelled- as were the kayaking events we had planned. Please join these socially distancing anemones dressed to impress at tonight's under-the-water themed Kayaking charity dinner by donating to this amazing cause. We have created a GoFundMe page where you can donate and share ...with friends and family. The Arrow Bone Marrow Foundation is dedicated to funding the research behind bone marrow and stem cell therapies as well as supporting patients through their bone marrow transplants. It is such a worthy cause and will be struggling with the loss of such a large charity fundraiser that is the Hawkesbury. 12.01.2022 The 2020 year is drawing to a close, but its legacy will be felt for a long time to come. University of New England, AU is now planning for a cautious business-as-usual approach to on-campus activity in 2021. In accordance with NSW Government guidelines, the University is committed to a phased return to on-campus teaching across all of our campuses that ensures the safety of the UNE community without compromising the student experience. Trimester 1 2021 coursework officially ...begins on Monday 1 March 2021 with Lectures planned to be online, timetabled to avoid virtual lectures clashing. Tutorials will also remain online (however - there will be capacity for units to be prioritised for on-campus activities based on venue capacities. This will be made visible to students as the timetable for T1 is developed). Whilst noting that we remain predominately online for T1 OUR COLLEGES ARE OPEN, we are VERY happy to invite students back to use the various college and campus facilities including the Dixon Library, where you can sit and attend your online sessions, and Sport UNE in Armidale. We appreciate that for many, the Duval College experience is more conducive (and fun) to learning than being at home (and maybe better wifi too)... Moving closer to T1 2021, and into the trimester, UNE will be continually reviewing how we balance safety with smooth, effective operation. We anticipate that the scope of on-campus activity around education and the student social experience across all of our campuses and their communities will expand through the remainder of 2020 and into 2021. UNE will provide updates as the COVID situation evolves and restrictions are adjusted or lifted. All current students of UNE have been sent an email about this. We would love too see you all in 2021 to make it one to remember. If you haven't yet applied. Applications are FREE for 2021 - apply now https://www.une.edu.au/campus-li/une-accommodation/colleges

08.01.2022 Calling all Duval alumni - specifically those who were in the JCRC! We are currently in the process of updating our website and have come across a child sponsorship charity that we were unaware about. It mentions that the money raised from our annual slave auction went towards a sponsorship of a child called Manko from Somalia. Unfortunately the information about the sponsorship and Manko got lost throughout the years. However, we are very interested in recovering any information surrounding Manko and the charity. If you know anything at all, please feel free to comment or send us a message

06.01.2022 We thought we might take a quick moment to say a BIG thank you to our beautiful 2020 Resident Fellow Team This team was challenged when the countries overall COVID lock down sent our students home for a few weeks. 06.01.2022 Meet Our Senior Academic Mentor - Sarah Shipman Hey! My name is Sarah Shipman and I grew up on a farm in the Northern Rivers, NSW. I’m in my fourth year of a degree of criminology and laws and am the current Senior Academic Mentor at Duval College. What do you wish to achieve with your degree?... I am very passionate about family law and child protection so my current goal is to either work as a family lawyer or independent children’s lawyer. Eventually I would love to be a judge in the Family Court. Favourite/ Funniest moment from Duval My favourite and funniest moment from Duval was during second year when mid I decided to take a trip to the pet store just to look at the fish. We came home with about 7 communal fish. This year I am the Vice Prez of the JCR and have loved every moment of it! What do you wish to achieve with your degree?... Being a nurse is kinda a given, but I guess I want to focus on areas of critical care when I start working. I really liked my clinical placement in ICU, so areas like that and the Emergency Department are definitely where I think I'll end up. Favourite memories from Duval? Probably finishing the Hawkesbury last year, especially considering how close we got the year before and how FRUSTRATING that was lol. Go-to karaoke song? My heart will go on by Celine Dion?? Banger.
