21.01.2022 Research by Women’s Refuge, a charity in New Zealand, found that for those who are experiencing violence in a relationship, 60% are likely to lose their jobs whilst in the relationship, leaving them more vulnerable and dependent on their partners. This financial toll can make it harder for victims/survivors to leave their relationship. Countries like New Zealand and the Philippines offer paid domestic violence leave, which supports victims/survivors by allowing them paid time... off to deal with issues like moving house and/or seeking legal help, without the worry of losing their jobs. - Sourced from the Economist: How domestic violence affects the economy.
