25.01.2022 Like many sporting associations this year, the DVBA has been in the unfortunate situation where we have had to review the impact of Covid-19 on the future of our association. Whilst there has been some great announcements during this period in regards to our home redevelopment commencing, we are now in the position of planning and revaluating for a sustainable future for the DVBA. We have made some difficult decisions regarding our staff and operations moving forward. We are... very sad to announce that one of these changes is the redundancy of Alan McAughtry’s role as VC Coaching Mentor. We are very grateful for Al and all he has done for the association over the years. He has been a major contributor to the Diamond Valley Eagles for more than a decade and has passed on a great deal of knowledge to our players and coaches. Through his commitment he has helped Diamond Valley produce many state level players and coaches including some national representatives. Al is an outstanding coach and his knowledge of the game has been a great asset to the DVBA. We wish Al and his family all the best for the future, he will always be remembered very fondly by all of us at Diamond Valley.

It's a very difficult time, absolutely it is. Our eventual return to sport will clearly show which athletes are genuine about their desire to improve and which just talk about it. ... 24.01.2022 Diamond Valley Basketball Association and Prime Athletes is excited to present the Prepare to Perform Clinics Run by Strength and Conditioning legends Cam Rigby and Joel Norton, these 1 hour sessions aim to get all players better prepared for a return to the court. Our athletes haven’t gone fast, changed directions or worked for extended periods in a long time. Basketball will be able to start up again from tomorrow, the following will be able to resume at their scheduled times: VJBL, Big V and NBL1 training Senior Domestic and Junior Domestic games VJBL games postponed from Friday 12 February will be played this Friday 19 February... As per Basketball Victoria’s advice: Masks are mandatory for everyone over 12 years of age on entry and exit of the stadium, unless medically exempt Masks are not required while on court during games for players and referees participating in an exertive role, however, must be worn while not playing and on entry and exit of the stadium Coaches (including during games) and all other patrons over 12 years of age - must wear a mask at all times while indoors unless medically exempt Attendance records are required. All attendees at basketball activities must register via QR code or record their attendance by the method required at the venue We can’t wait to see everyone back on court

Unfortunately, due to basketball being classified as a contact sport (i.e. a sport that is unable to be played at a social distancing length of 1.5m between each participant) by the Victorian Government, basketball is subject to being part of the Last Step of the COVID Roadmap. Yarra Valley Water, after consultation with the Department of Health and Human Services and Melbourne Water, advises customers that the Boil Water Advisory issued on 28 August 2020 is now lifted across all suburbs. Water quality testing has confirmed that the water supply in the network is safe to drink. It is recommended that customers flush internal taps for two minutes to draw fresh water into their internal plumbing. We monitor water quality across our network on an ongoing, daily basis to ensure it’s of a high quality for our customers. As always, we encourage any of our customers experiencing hardship or financial difficulties to contact us for support on 1800 994 789. Where people have been out of pocket by having to purchase bottled water, please call us to receive a refund. We sincerely thank you for your patience while we have worked to confirm the safety of drinking water and apologise for the inconvenience. We take our responsibility to provide safe drinking water very seriously and do not issue these advisories lightly. Damage caused by storms overnight led to undisinfected water from Silvan Dam entering the water supply system. Please do not drink tap water or use it for food preparation unless it is boiled first. Water which has not been boiled may be used for showering, bathing, flushing toilets, hand washing, washing dishes, clothes and garden watering. The contaminated water may cause gastro-like symptoms if consumed; if you have these symptoms, please contact your doctor. I understand the power is back on and the problem has been solved, but the undisiinfected water is still in the system. As soon as I hear it is ok to drink tap water, I’ll post an update.
