22.01.2022 Thank you to all clubs who attended the AGM last night. Here is a brief overview of what occurred: - The current Executive was re-elected for this season as well as the addition of Peter Hannan. - Rule change proposals that were sent to clubs prior to the meeting all passed with a majority vote. - Provided COVID Restrictions target are met, looking at a start date of 14th November.... - Clubs were presented with playing format options based on when the season commences. This includes the possibility of playing some 2-day games on Sat/Sun only in Shield Grades as well as B to D, however the majority, if not all, will be 1-day cricket. Lower grades will only play 1-day cricket. - Clubs will provide feedback on the proposals and based on this feedback, the executive will decide the final formats. - All Junior cricket this season will be 1-day cricket. Clubs will continue to be updated regarding the COVID return to train and play guidelines as required through Cricket Victoria. No doubt this season will look different to those before but we are certainly looking forward to getting out on the park. Now is the time to get in contact with your local club to register for the coming season. After a winter of no sport, now is a great time to join your local club and have some fun in the sun!! 22.01.2022 DVCA Spirit of Cricket Award It's time to announce the first winner of the evening. Clubs first XI’s competing in Barclay Shield, Money Shield and Mash Shield will be given a Spirit of Cricket rating at the end of each match.... The DVCA Spirit of Cricket Award is judged on the three following areas: Respect for the opponents Respect for the role of the umpires Respect for the game This is determined by the officiating umpire/s and can be awarded a maximum of four points for each criteria. The club with the highest average at the end of the season is declared the winner. (Note: clubs who have had players suspended are ineligible to win the award) The winner of the 2019-20 Spirit of Cricket Award is the Bundoora Park Cricket Club Congratulations to everyone at the Bundoora Park Cricket Club for winning the award in their first year in the association. 22.01.2022 The Junior season commences this afternoon with U12s, U10s and the Girls Competitions. It's great news that the Girls competition has grown this season and will see 12 teams compete across the 2 grades. We have new teams and merged teams across all grades to allow everyone who wants a game to be involved. The remaining Junior grades commence this Friday.

21.01.2022 All DVCA Clubs were advised last night of the confirmed playing arrangements for this season following feedback received by all clubs. The DVCA Executive can confirm the following for the Senior Competition: - All grades will play 1-day cricket only - There will be no increase to overs for all grades (80 overs Shield to E grade and 70 overs F1 and below) - All senior matches to start on Saturday 14th November and Vets on Sunday 15th November (pending COVID restrictions bein...g lifted) - Revised Final Series for all Senior Grades with top 2 teams getting a double chance. Semi Finals - 1 v 2 (SF1) & 3 v 4 (SF2) Prelim Final - Loser SF1 v Winner SF2 Grand Final - Winner SF1 v Winner Prelim - Shield Grand Finals scheduled for Saturday 20th March, all other Grades for 13th March. Information regarding the commencement of the Junior Competition will be confirmed very shortly. The DVCA Executive thanks the clubs for their feedback and we look forward to getting the season underway next month should restrictions be eased.

Highlights included: - Bundoora United Cricket Club amassing 2/251cc against Camrea with Joel Thompson scoring 127 whilst Mitch McAuley took 5/2 from 4 overs!! - In a high scoring game at Mill Park, Lalor Stars Cricket Club scored 7/213cc with Mill Park Cricket Club responding with 6/159cc - Thomastown United Cricket Club & Rivergum played out a thriller with... 15.01.2022 With Round 2 of the senior competition to get underway today, here is a quick reminder about some of the important COVID Match-Day protocols each club, player and officials need to be aware of. - All players & officials MUST sign in & out at the venue they are playing at. QR codes or attendance registers must be supplied by the home team. - The HOME team is to provide all sanitisation products for both teams at their venue. - All players & officials must sanitise their hands ...on the arrival at their playing venue. - Sanitisation breaks to occur at the half way mark of each innings. Ball to be sanitised at this time or if touched at anytime by someone not involved in the game. - Bowlers are to place their hat either off the field, behind the wicket keeper of behind the central umpire (ideally at the beginning of runup). The umpire/s and team mates are not allowed to touch any piece of individual clothing including hats. - Bowlers are not to apply any sweat or saliva on the ball for it to be shined. 14.01.2022 The Northern Region T20 Competition begins this evening with games commencing at 5:15pm. 32 teams from across the DVCA & NMCA will compete this season and there will also be guest players spread across the competition. These include Thomas Rogers (Ringwood Cricket Club) who is coming off scoring 181* on the weekend in Premier 1s who will play for Old Paradians Cricket Club, Nick Ross (Carlton Cricket Club) playing for Riverside Cricket Club, Sean McNicholl (Greenvale Kangaroos Cricket Club) playing for Dennis Cricket Club, and former Victorian Player Adam Crosthwaite (St Kilda Cricket Club) captaining the Rosanna Cricket Club. For these Grades, you will find: - all teams have been allocated 7 home and 7 away matches - either the first or 2nd team play at home each week across these grades... - the fixture format is Round 1 to Round 9, Round 10 to Round 14 is then the reciprocal of Rounds 1 to 5. The Plenty Valley Cricket Club, our region's Premier Female Cricket Club, is fielding 3 teams in the Women's Victorian Premier Cricket competition for season 20/21 and is home to Australian Fast Bowler Tayla Vlaeminck and Research local and Melbourne Stars player Sophie Day. As always, they welcome any local females to the club. They play on Sunday's around Metro Melbourne with the season commencing on Sunday 22nd November.
