25.01.2022 This is how the team at DVCS supported the ACT community last month!!

22.01.2022 When you contact DVCS we will ask you questions such as your name, date of birth, gender, cultural heritage, sexual orientation, whether you have a disability or are on a VISA. Information about children in your care, or not in your care. Whether you are employed, what sort of tenancy you are living in and information about the person who uses violence against you. We do this for four reasons. 1. Knowing this information helps to inform us how we support you. It helps u...s to safety plan with you. Ensuring you are receiving appropriate referrals and supports. 2. DVCS participates in a range of studies and contributes to reports in relation to the prevalence, experiences, goals and outcomes of people who experience violence within their relationships, as well as those who use violence. Participating and contributing to these types of studies and reports helps our community to ensure education and funding is being distributed to the areas it needs to be. DVCS provides de-identified data such as gender, age and cultural heritage. Whether clients have a disability or are in Australia on a VISA, amongst other things. 3. We receive some of our funding from the ACT and Federal Government. The funding agreements we enter into with the applicable Directorates requires us to provide de-identified data to them. For example, a break-down of the gender of all our clients, their ages or cultural heritage. 4. We also report much of the de-identified data captured in our Annual Report. Many different agencies, departments and media use our Annual Report, and it is available to the public via our website. See more

17.01.2022 Children are involved in technology-facilitated abuse in 27 per cent of domestic violence cases, a new eSafety report co-authored by Griffith University researchers reveals. The report, commissioned by eSafety and funded by the Department of Social Services under the National Plan to Reduce Violence Against Women and Their Children 2010-2022, reveals that where domestic violence practitioners have knowledge of technology-facilitated abuse involving children, monitoring and stalking is the most prevalent type of abuse reported.

17.01.2022 Here at DVCS we are always striving to provide our clients with a quality service that recognises individual difference such as age, culture, gender, sexuality, ability, location and circumstance. We value and respond to the needs of people from diverse backgrounds. To ensure we continue to maintain a high level of support to our clients, and to improve, we do ask clients to complete a short survey. If you have engaged with DVCS over the past month, we warmly invite you to... participate in client satisfaction survey which can be done online here: https://dvcs.org.au/about/feedback/ Feedback can be provided confidentially. Alternatively, if you wish to provide feedback in a different format, you are welcome to email us at [email protected] or telephone us during regular business hours on 02 6280 6999. Thank you for helping us to continue to provide a crucial service to those in the Canberra community who are experiencing violence and/or abuse within their relationships.

01.01.2022 DVCS acknowledges many people here in the ACT and outside of the ACT might be self-isolating or quarantining. They might be self-isolating because they have Covid-19, awaiting the results of a Covid-19 test, have recently returned from overseas or interstate or because of other health concerns. Just because you are self-isolating does not mean you should be subjected to violence at home, physical or non-physical. If you are concerned about what is happening at home, we sti...ll want to talk to you. We can provide support to people via telephone, virtually, by SMS, email or online chat. Even if you have Covid-19, we still want to chat with you about how you can enhance your safety. Please reach out to us on 62 800 900 (24/7), via SMS to 0421 268 492, email to [email protected] or via online chat or our confidential contact form at www.dvcs.org.au

01.01.2022 DVCS is happy to be able to contribute to this operation.
