25.01.2022 "Previous research has demonstrated that for women without permanent residency or citizenship, the experience of domestic and family violence is compounded by immigration threats and their exclusion from many of the supports available to victims. These can include income, housing, medical and legal services. The pandemic has intensified the impact of exclusion, while also highlighting the persistent use of migration status as a threat." 20.01.2022 A report by Monash University’s Gender and Family Violence Prevention Centre released last week, based on a survey of more than 100 Victorian workers, found almost 70 per cent were experiencing burnout and increased stress due to the demands on the specialist family violence sector. Specialist family violence services for experiencing family violence can be the difference between life and death. Adequate support for the workers providing these services must be prioritised, our chief executive Tania Farha said. None of these could have been harnessed without the commitment of our exceptional staff all of whom have not only adjusted to working remotely during this period but have successfully adapted our professional development and capability building activities for the online environment. Our Annual Report showcases DVRCV's progress in our key program areas over the past year and our continued work to create a world where women and their children are thriving, respected and free from violence. We hope that you enjoy reading it!

10.01.2022 Every year we see a spike in family violence around significant sporting events like the AFL and NRL grand finals. According to police and crime statistics data, Victoria saw a 15% increase in family violence incidents on AFL Grand Final day, and a 12% increase on NRL Grand Final day. It's time to #PlayYourPart in helping to end family violence. There is never an excuse for violence or abuse. If you’re experiencing violence or abuse, you do not have to face this alone. Help and support is available, even during restrictions and lockdown: https://www.areyousafeathome.org.au/
