10.01.2022 As a business owner your perspective (your view of the world) and how tightly you either hold onto it or not, plays a MASSIVE role in your ability to lead and succeed. Have you ever sat and watched a fly on a window ledge? The fly tries time and time again to break through the window. So fixated on that being the only path to take. Only a few feet to the left is an open door begging to be exited.... The fly will die there on the window sill, so stuck in its perspective the window being the only way out. The window invisible to the fly, like your perspectives can be to you.

06.01.2022 When a new movie is released, they have a premiere, the first official showing. And we can agree, each running of a film after the premiere is a re-run, it is the same movie simply played at a later date. Well, a similar premiere takes place in your mind before a situation or event takes place. Usually, at an unconscious level, this movie, picture or feeling plays out in your mind before the re-run occurs in real life. What you imagine or feel will happen often does, even whe...n this premiere unconsciously takes place in an empty cinema deep in the back of your mind. Let's look at an example: You're about to have a difficult conversation with a team member, offering feedback and holding them accountable to their underperformance. Do you feel the conversation will be positive? How will it play out? You may be nervous, feeling tight in your stomach and worried at the reaction you will get. Last time you had a similar conversation, it caused so much angst you didn't know how to respond. They were so defensive and blamed everyone else; it felt as if you had woken a monster. Losing all confidence, you couldn't find your words, overwhelmed your good intention evaporated before your eyes. You realise this is how you see the next difficult conversation playing out and I want you to understand something: Not only is the cinema in your mind yours (you own it, it's yours). You also own the production company and write and direct all the movies, and let's be honest; you are the star. As such, you have complete creative freedom: 1. You can edit the script, 2. You can make as many changes as you like, you’re the director and editor, 3. Remember to show up to the premiere; if you still don't like tphe movie and how it ends go back to step 1. don't forget, it's your movie, 4. Enjoy the re-run (real life); things run a lot smoother when you write and produce your own endings. A high performing team and successful business begin with you and your mindset. Write, produce and direct your favourite movies, and remember to buy a ticket and watch the premiere, it's never too late for a re-write.
