03.01.2022 How do I program my bench Press? After hitting a bit of a plateau with my bench late last year I’ve really stepped up my game with my training and consistency for my bench training. As your Bench Press doesn’t increase as quickly as your squat or deadlift it can be a bit frustrating sometimes... What I am currently doing and have found to be working for me is, Benching twice a week one Heavy Day and one Light Day... On my Heavy Day I’m doing sets of either 2,3 or 5 reps depending on the week and I do 3-6 sets depending on how I’m feeling and how recovered I am. I increase the weight I’m using for each of these rep ranges every third week by 2.5kgs. So for example every third week on my heavy day I am doing sets of 2 and I’ll be doing 2.5kgs more than last time I did sets of 2 reps :) On my Light Days I go through 4-6 weeks of just working on increasing my 8 10 or 12 rep Max. So Week one I’ll do 5-8 sets of 10 reps then the next week I’ll add 2.5kgs to the previous week and see how many sets of 10 reps I can get and so on till I hit a weight where I can only get about 1 set of 10 then I’ll change my rep range to continue progress in another range :) 70kg 8x8 today #gymtips #gymtipsandtricks #getstrong #getstronger #benchpress #benchday #benchpressing
