From bestselling, ABIA award-winning author Rachael Johns comes an engrossing and wise novel about ambition, choices and what it means to be a woman. Three women, three secrets, one life-changing journey. Alice has always been a trailblazer as a scientist, activist, and mother. She knew her choices would involve sacrifices, but now, on the eve of her eightieth birthday, she's beginning to wonder if she's sacrificed too much. Alice's daughter Sappho rebelled against her unconventional upbringing, choosing to marry young and embrace life as a homemaker, but her status as a domestic goddess has recently taken a surprising turn. Ged, has always been the peacemaker between her grandmother and mother. A tenacious journalist she knows what she wants in life and love, yet when everything in her world starts falling apart, she begins to question whether she really knows anyone at all. At a crossroads in each of their lives, Alice, Sappho and Ged embark on a celebratory trip together, but instead of bringing them closer, the holiday sparks life-changing consequences and lifts the lid on a fifty-year secret. Can Ged rescue her family if their story is built on a betrayal? Books will be available to purchase and be signed on the night. Rachael Johns HarperCollins Books Australia Grand View Hotel

10.01.2022 We’re closing Dymocks at Carindale, but we’ll still be around. It is sad, but it’s the end of our lease and we haven’t been able to negotiate a new position with our landlord, so Dymocks Carindale will be closing at the end of March. We’re consolidating with our Garden City Store and moving all your Booklover Accounts and Rewards there so we’ll still be around, just 8 km or a bus ride away. Some of our staff are coming with us, so you can expect the same, personal, knowledgeable customer service you’re used to when we see you there. So Au Revoir, Aloha, Saynara and Addio! We’ll see you at Dymocks Garden City, up the aisle between K Mart and Aldi!

08.01.2022 Mary Moody Lunch Date: 24 Oct 2019 Time: 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Venue: 49 North Street, Cleveland QLD 4152 Australia Cost: $45 pp Includes 2 course meal & a complimentary drink... Enquiries: Ph 3884 3000 or www.gvh.com.au or email [email protected] The Accidental Tour Guide is the latest instalment in Mary Moody’s inspirational journey to find her place in the world after the heartbreaking loss of her husband of 42 years to cancer. With her trademark determination, Mary carves out a new life for herself as a single older woman who inspires others to follow their dreams. In the tradition of Eat Pray Love and Salvation Creek, it's a powerful new memoir from a woman who has openly and honestly pushed the boundaries on all that life has to offer. The book opens with the death of Mary’s beloved husband, David. The grief from this loss galvanises Mary to reinvent herself, combining her love of travel with her passion for gardening. It is the story of breaking new frontiers in the true sense of the word. After her first extraordinary trek into the wildflower meadows of the Himalayas, Mary is inspired to lead others through unchartered territories in Morocco, to upmarket European and English gardens, and right to the foot of Mount Everest and historic Nepal. Now in her late sixties, Mary Moody is determined to grow old outrageously. She has no intention of 'going gently into that good night' and is passionately committed to continue leading walking tours along roads less travelled,as long as her legs will carry her.
