24.01.2022 Here we have a good example of a well set up primary and secondary scraper. This picture clearly shows both scrapers perfectly set up to rectify a conveyor that had a serious carry back issue. Carry back occurs when material sticks to the belt and does not discharge at the transfer point. This seemly common issue can be extremely problematic when the material on the belt is particularly sticky, or in wet conditions.... 16.01.2022 Impact damage to conveyor components can occur when bulk material falls from the transfer point into the impact zone below. The transfer points can often be several meters high and the impact can often involve lumps of heavy material being accelerated by gravity. Over time, impact zones can become damaged and require repair or replacement. For example, the belt can become worn and disfigured from over-stretching under the pressure of falling material. If the material impacts ...the belt at a high enough velocity it can pierce the belt and cause holes to form. These impacts can dramatically lessen the service life of your conveyor belt, which can have a costly ramification as belts are one of the most expensive conveyor components. This job was particularly difficult and was done in situ because of the limited access available to remove the pulley from the conveyor. So It's important to maintain them correctly and minimise any potential stoppages or damage to keep them operating and maximise service life. Here's a solution to prevent abrasive material damage: Correct Belt Type Having the correct type of belting for the materials being carried can reduce the rate or risk of damage to the belt. For example, Grade A belts are Abrasion Resistant, therefore are longer lasting than General Purpose (Grade M&N) belts.
