17.01.2022 What is Jujitsu? Although jujitsu does employ some weapons, its main focus is as a type of unarmed combat. Jujitsu techniques come in a variety of forms including throws, joint locks, choking techniques, grappling moves along with kicks, punches and strikes with the elbows and knees.... The art of jujitsu (also known as jiu-jitsu, ju-jutsu, tai-jutsu, yawara and yawara-ge) has its roots in feudal Japan and is based on the principle that the soft conquers the hard. In the early 20th century, the world of jujitsu split when many of the schools merged with the new martial art, judo (the gentle way), created by Jigoro Kano. Judo took many of the less dangerous jujitsu moves and was adapted for a more modern way of fighting, with greater emphasis on the sport and exercise elements of the martial arts. What is BJJ? Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and sport that was developed in Brazil and derived from Judo. There is a heavy emphasis on grappling techniques and on ground-based fighting and takedowns. Punches, kicks and other strikes are not traditionally utilised in the art, instead it focuses on choke holds and joint locks that are designed to cause an opponent to submit, pass out or be rendered unable to continue. We are a Jujitsu school affiliated with the Australian Ju Jitsu Association.

We found a great venue to train, enrolled 35 members, survived a shut down for covid and kept our members active online. ...
