22.01.2022 It’s nice to be appreciated! Whilst out working yesterday getting machinery back up and running for people, I was gifted with these goodies. It may not seem much, but the appreciation means a lot during this time. The bar of sweet smelling soap was given to me by an appreciative doctor who has worked all week and could only be home on a Saturday for the repair appointment. A fitting gift from a doctor I think! Maybe I was on the nose? I was also greeted with a squirt of ha...nd sanitiser! A very responsible gesture. The Japanese cigar biscuits were gifted from a lovely lady who also appreciated our urgent accommodation on a weekend. Thank you and stay safe!

20.01.2022 These state of the art electronics are inside an induction cooktop! The amount of software required to drive the touch display and driving circuits is astounding. What it means for us is that you can put your pot on any part of the cooktop without worrying about keeping it in a circle and you can put on odd shaped cookware too. If you have a spare $10,000 they are beautiful.

20.01.2022 My job takes me to some interesting places. I enjoyed meeting these two goats today at a job I went to. Apparently they haven't mowed the lawn for over a year!

19.01.2022 Do you own a front loading washing machine? If you do, did you know that the cycle you choose is very important? Front loading machines save lots of water and energy when they wash. Because of this, they need to run on the recommended cycle. A quick cycle (30 minutes on most machines) is normally for a very small load of about 2KG's and should not be used for large loads like towels etc. Choosing the wrong cycle can result in damage to your belt, motor, circuit board and ot...her components. A hot cycle should be run through your machine of about 60 degrees periodically to keep the detergents from building up in your machine. grey and black flakey bits can come onto your washing and stain whites also when this happens. Cold washes can be used but wash performance diminishes and detergent can be left behind after the wash. Always check the labels on your washing before choosing the wash temperature! See more

07.01.2022 Do you have cockroaches in your house? Are you sure?? I've been to some very tidy houses lately with Spick and span kitchens which have had an infestation of cockroaches lurking in their dishwasher!!!! Check behind your dishwasher for deposits (Of course disconnect your dishwasher and try not to scratch your floor) and keep baits behind to keep them from breeding. Cockroaches damage circuit boards and other components in dishwashers which can cost you a fortune to replace if they are not economical to repair. If in doubt get your pest control person to dust around your machine with their cockroach killing powder! I should also point out that manufacturer warranties and extended warranties do not cover for repairs relating to rats, mice, cockroaches, geckos and other pests.

06.01.2022 I love working on different machines from normal. This pottery wheel is over 20 years old and needed an electrical service. The old Brook Crompton Betts motor with conical gear speed control still works a treat. I could not help thinking of the movie ghost with Patrick Swayze while working on it.

06.01.2022 Modern day ovens like this one can have multiple circuit boards and sensors which require adequate ventilation. Check your installation instructions before letting anyone change over your appliances. Cut out size is not the only thing to consider! Ventilation is a must with new style ovens and cooktops. Even if an electrician is changing the oven for you, make sure the instructions are read first.

05.01.2022 A good dishwasher should clean without needing to waste water on rinsing and scrubbing. That's what they are made for. See the before and after washing photos. This breakfast pan was put straight into our dishwasher without any rinsing or scrubbing.

02.01.2022 Did you know your dishwasher has filters at the bottom for your wash pump and drain pump? If you neglect these filters it will make your dishwasher smelly and grow bacteria amongst the food particles trapped. Even if you rinse your plates there is still a need to clean these filters as dust particles, oils and grease build up and reduce the washing effectiveness and will possibly make you sick. Depending on the brand of your dishwasher, normally the filter assembly will come apart and must be clipped back together after cleaning. Don’t forget to twist or lock the filter assembly back into place otherwise they will float in the water and won’t filter anything! Happy washing!
