12.01.2022 STRAIGHT SPINES vs POOR POSTURE Hey Dysart! Many people have been presenting to the practice talking about how they want a "straight spine". It's important to understand that your spine, when viewed from the side- should be curvy! We have 3 curves in our spine that act as a suspension system for our bodies so that we can bend, twist and do all the activities that we love to do! If it wasn't for these curves, and our spine was in fact straight- we would have very little to no ...mobility at all! However what can happen, is that people may start to develop imbalances within their muscles and joints which can either flatten out- or increase the angles of these curves. When you change these curves our function changes too! This results in what many know as "bad posture" and can lead to headaches, neck pain, low back pain, knee and ankle pain or even plateauing at your favourite sport. That's why it is so important to have your spine assessed so that you can continue smashing goals and functioning your absolute best!
