19.01.2022 It’s about time this became more common knowledge! So many schools use this program and it’s ineffective for so many. Nessy is a much better option!

19.01.2022 Five From Five, Auspeld and Learning Difficulties Australia have collaborated on an evidence-based framework for schools to dramatically reduce the number of ch...ildren who finish primary school unable to read proficiently. It is vitally important that schools and teachers are provided with the support, training and resources they need to ensure that all students learn to read. Primary Reading Pledge: To reduce to near zero the number of children who finish primary school unable to read by providing primary schools with the resources and training to provide effective assessment and intervention. 19.01.2022 As part of our "Read My Frustration" dyslexia awareness campaign we interviewed a number of people to bring to life, in their words, the many aspects and experi...ences of living with dyslexia. Our first interview features Bindee, a dyslexic that went unidentified throughout her school years. Finally she met that one person who helped her to obtain a formal assessment, which helped her start her current journey and dream to become a vet.

18.01.2022 It’s good to see more and more coverage on the issue by mainstream media. We see this happening before our eyes and we shouldn’t have the waiting list that we do! Thank you Speld NSW Code REaD Dyslexia Network and Five From Five for your ongoing efforts and advocacy for change.

09.01.2022 Parents! Please sign to support this evidence based action plan to get all children reading by the end of Primary school!

09.01.2022 Principal Sheryl Chard said the school had previously employed a balanced-literacy approach, which, although teaching some phonics, was heavily dependant on chi...ldren memorising lists of whole words and using guessing strategies when coming across unfamiliar words. What happened though was that our reading, spelling and writing data plateaued and we could not move it to a higher level, Mrs Chard said. We soon realised that there was virtually non-existent research for what we had thought was exemplary practice." https://www.theaustralian.com.au//19e6410bd39bb9b81e3b75eb

08.01.2022 The Prime Minister of Norway is one of the most vocal political leaders that speaks up with pride, dignity, self confidence and strength when discussing her dys...lexia. She is also an inspiration for the children telling them " Some of the smartest people in the world have dyslexia. You must remember that." In 2015, she was criticized for her spelling on Facebook with a suggestion that she needed an assistant. Her strong reply back to the country was " I am dyslexic and I write it myself." Go Norway! Prime Minister Erna Solberg makes us all feel #DyslexiaInspired. See more

02.01.2022 Why all the RED So who is making all this fuss about Dyslexia Awareness Month and why all the RED? Ask any dyslexic about their school experie...nce and they will tell you about the gut wrenching fear of receiving back their school work covered in red crosses and comments from a well intended teacher. So when as a small group of parents we began working together to raise awareness for dyslexia in Australia in 2015 the connection with red seemed like a natural relationship to build on. It helped too that parent groups in the US were already using the colour. Our group went on to organise a national campaign to light significant buildings and landmarks across the country in red to bring awareness (the campaign, called Light it Red for Dyslexia is in its 6th year in 2020!) And when it came time to establish an official NFP organisation in 2017 it seemed natural to lean towards our red beginnings. The colour influenced our name Code Read (pronounced RED) Dyslexia Network. Red is disruptive and cannot be ignored but it also highlights the urgency of the situation. In effect we wanted to say that it is time to stop sweeping this important issue under the carpet and take action. So please join us this October. Help us to cover the country in red! Can you light something red this October? If that isn’t possible we also have the ultimate (& easy peasy) virtual campaign in #doitred read about it here - https://codereadnetwork.org/get-involved/doitred/ And read more about Light it Red for Dyslexia here https://codereadnetwork.org/get-involved/lir2020/ #lightitredfordyslexia #lir2020 #doitred #dyslexiaawarenessmonth #dyslexia #dyslexiaawareness #coderead See more
