19.01.2022 From Sony "Walkman" to Sony Carman? Sony has just unveiled it's "Vision S" prototype E-car. Dyson tried and vanished. It's one thing to make a concept car another altogether to put it into production. Sony says there are currently no plans for commercial sales or mass production. Hmm I wonder. Why make it then?... The concept car, comes loaded with more than 30 sensors both inside and outside the vehicle to improve object detection. Said to showcase Sony’s advanced automotive technologies, it also comes embedded with on-board AI technology and of course Sony Hi-fidelity sound. According to Sony, the vehicle will permit a certain degree of supplementary driving, such as auxiliary braking, as complete autonomous driving is difficult. Henrik Fisker is a Danish-American automotive designer and entrepreneur residing in Los Angeles, California. When you've seen the video, you'll see Henrik isn't mucking around, has a great team surrounding him which together have designed one very awesome vehicle. E-Car Some details.. "Powering the Fisker Ocean will be an 80 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that should be ...good for a driving range of between 250 and 300 miles (402-482 km). Thanks to a partnership with Electrify America, owners will be able to add 200 miles of range to the battery in as little as 30 minutes. One of the more intriguing aspects of the Fisker Ocean previewed in the run-up to its launch is its ‘California Mode’ that drops nine windows across the car’s exterior at the touch of a single button. Inside, the Fisker Ocean takes a simplistic approach, similar to what we've seen in upcoming rivals like the Tesla Model Y and Ford Mustang Mach-E. A large touchscreen (no official measurements yet) sits front and center and a smaller screen located behind the steering wheel acts as the digital instrument cluster. There are also two wireless chargers and a head-up display the latter, the company says, can display music lyrics while a song is playing, assuming the driver is in the mood for in-car karaoke. Five haptic buttons hide below that larger center screen, giving users quick access to the home screen, fan speed, temperature, and audio. The Ocean should have autonomous capabilities; Fisker didn't mention specifics during the debut, but there is a noticeable radar in the front grille. The Fisker Ocean goes on sale late in 2021, but don't expect to see deliveries of the vehicle until 2022. The starting price in the U.S. is $37,499 (or $29,999 after tax credits), and interested buyers can currently place a $250 refundable deposit. Fisker will also offer a $379-per-month subscription plan closer to an on-sale date. Rivian was founded in 2009 by CEO Robert "RJ" Scaringe, who graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a doctorate in mechanical engineering. With plans afoot for what Rivian are calling "the world’s first electric adventure vehicles". It should be interesting. There's no doubt they have a great team to do it and Lincoln, has recently announced it's first EV will be based on Rivian's electric platform from the Rivian R1T pickup truck and R1S SUV.
