19.01.2022 According to Elon Musk, almost every piece of the Falcon 9 can be reused for over 100 times, with the heat shield reusable over 10 times before they need to be replaced. This makes the cost of space travel a lot cheaper. Anyone thinking about visiting space? Better start saving. #YE #Education #Learning #Youngengineer #STEM

10.01.2022 Why do earthquakes spell danger for tall buildings? Make your own earthquake simulator using a few simple tools: - 4 small rubber balls - cardboard - scissors... - Lego bricks - 2 large rubber bands Taller, thinner structures fall over more easily than short wide ones. Earthquakes cause the most damage to buildings with side-to-side movements, like the movements in this experiment. Try out towers of different heights and widths. Which are the most stable? This is a great emphasis on stable structures, just like what we are teaching in class! Fun Fact: Near the top of Taipei 101, a 509m tall skyscraper in Taiwan, hangs a huge metal ball weighing 700 tonnes and costing $4 million. When the building is shaken by earthquake tremors, the ball acts as a pendulum. It swings from side to side, reducing the movement of the building.
