21.01.2022 SA universities have been given permission to welcome international students back to campus. Students located in certain countries and regions in the Asia-Pacific region are being asked to ‘express their interest in participating in the pilot.’ Participation is limited to nine countries and regions with approved travel connections to Singapore. ... Key information: The program is available to approximately 300 students across the three universities. Students have been offered places in the program in priority order based on their need to attend face-to-face classes to complete their degrees, their geographic location, and their visa status. Students will be required to meet the strict quarantine requirements set out by SA Health, including a 14-day hotel stay upon arrival in Adelaide, as a condition of their inclusion and ongoing participation in the program. These measures are the same as those applied to Australians being repatriated from overseas. A condition of approval for the program is that returning citizens will be given first priority on flights. Students are responsible for meeting the costs of their flights and quarantine process. Each university is making a contribution to assist students in meeting these costs. Students offered places in the program are enrolled in Semester 2, have been studying remotely and will be able to transition smoothly to on-campus courses when they have completed their quarantine and have met all health requirements. The expectation is students will arrive in Adelaide from November 2020. They will be travelling on specific flights and will be escorted to a hotel to begin their supervised quarantine immediately. Once they receive clearance from SA Health, they will be able to attend university. Source: University of Adelaide staff email. 21 October 2020.
