18.01.2022 NAIDOC WEEK : Meet our community specialist teachers: Lorraine Brigdale - artist I’m a proud Yorta Yorta woman originating from the Ulupna Clan in the Barmah Forest. As an Indigenous artist, I am learning, teaching and sharing my art practices, culture and love of country. Making, weaving and coiling baskets, mats and sculptural pieces is in my blood, a part of my ancestral memory. My other strong art love is painting and in recent years, I have developed ochre painting to a... higher fine art level. I experiment with making paint from ochres and minerals, and making inks from plant matter. These paints and inks are developed for making my own artworks, but I am working towards having my own commercial paint range. I have loved having the opportunity to spend time with the Indigenous students at Eaglehawk Secondary, it’s a great opportunity for us to connect and learn from each other Being connected to country is not something that every Indigenous person automatically has in their life, but through sitting in a circle together, chatting and working on a weaving or sculpture, the connection can be seeded and grow. For many Indigenous people recognising that connection brings a feeling of really belonging that they may not have felt before. See more

She plans to become a photographer. These are some of the photos she has taken from around her home during lockdown. It is great to see Mu Gay Su making the most of this opportunity!

10.01.2022 GROW Garden It may not look like it from the pictures but Our GROW students have worked hard in the GROW garden over the last two weeks, taking back some control from the dreaded weeds!! Hopefully in another week or two we can say goodbye to the weeds altogether. We will then begin to propagate plants that we can plant around the school next year.
