25.01.2022 Some more loco work we have on currently for a customer. The loco requires new piston rods we will machine in house on our CNC lathe. Also more work to brake rigging components boring the holes in the shoes for the brake blocks to bring the pins and holes back to spec.



25.01.2022 Some more progress on the 30T Class Bogie Tenders.

23.01.2022 Lots of work happening recently at Eagletech. Some photos below showing a little of the comings and goings.

22.01.2022 We currently are rebuilding a batch of Westing house B type compressors for a few customers from accross the country.



22.01.2022 Not too much longer now and we will be able to share with you the results from one of our big projects that’s coming to fruition.

22.01.2022 FGW wagon frame we are constructing for a customer. The Grover bogies were laser cut and tabs where used to make the construction easier. The J class wheels and axles are now together and test fitted prior to fitting of the cranks.

21.01.2022 Here is some preliminary work that we are doing to ensure that a new spark arrestor will fit into an existing smokebox.



20.01.2022 Due to the Current Circumstances we are from today maintaining our facility as a worker only work place. We have brought in and implemented a number of increase cleaning and hygiene practices through our facility. We are unsure like everybody what the coming days and weeks will bring. 19.01.2022 Another delivery today of parts for the repair of a portable boiler.

19.01.2022 After a heap of effort and months waiting our brand new VMC is in place and waiting for the electrician to wire up the power and we can then start the process of making it run and producing parts for model locomotives and rolling stock.

19.01.2022 Another one of the big projects the lads have been working away on is returning a locomotive to service for a customer. A lot of new parts have been made and are ready for fitting up. The cab and cladding are currently receiving attention to improve the finish prior to painting. We are also manufacturing new pistons and piston rods for the locomotive to return all the parts back to the sizes that are in spec and give years of reliable service. ... We have completed the painting on the tender and once the engine is painted lining and sign writing will be applied. All the new brake rigging that we made has been fitted and all works well and passes the inspection. The valve gear has been inspected and new parts manufactured or repaired as things were identified.

18.01.2022 A few small parts coming off our cnc milling machine. Slowly been set up and tooled up for production running batch builds of live steam equipment.



18.01.2022 Beginnings of a replacement chimney we are working on for a customer. This will be riveted along the lap joint. We now have the capacity in our workshop for plate and sheet rolling.

17.01.2022 Merry Christmas from all of us at Eagletech. We have been busy and we had intended a bigger Christmas party but this year we just couldnt make it happen heres some of our team having lunch on Christmas Eve. Looking forward to bigger and more things coming in the new year. From all of us Merry Christmas

17.01.2022 Today one of the many things happening in the workshop was the removal of the old crown sheet which had seen better days. After the replace crown sheet and rivets are fitted the tubes and other items will be fitted to the boiler getting it closer for a hydro test with all the new bits.

16.01.2022 Starting to get its new wheels fitted the next step will be getting the side rods completed and fitted to the new cranks. The new axles and cranks all fitting together with correct interference fits to ensure they dont work lose as the original cranks did. A new set of brake hangers for a customers loco having being completed, sand blasted and painted in readiness for re assembly soon.

16.01.2022 A few photos from some of the work last week. Apprentice Chris was kept busy installing holes in parts for bogies with our big radial arm drill. Locos are going back together. Here we see the main driving wheel of 437. ... Which we have had down to the frame and completed a number of jobs that improved the frame squareness and strength. See more

16.01.2022 Machining has begun on the some piston rods for one of our customers. Once machining is complete these will be chromed ready for years of good service

15.01.2022 Beginning of a run of NSWGR buffers first lot being fitted to 30 class locos

15.01.2022 This weekend is the opening of the Bathurst rail museum. This is where the HO railway we have been working on the last few months has been. It runs DCC and is automated. It is a very large model railway worth a look if your ever around Bathurst.

14.01.2022 The arrival of a order for 10 NSWGR 11/8 scale tender bogie parts along with other models under construction these will start to take shape we look forward to show the progress of the building of these tenders.

12.01.2022 Our new machine making parts for our 30 class manufacturing project. The parts that are being machined are the horn stays for the tender bogies.

12.01.2022 A number of small jobs during the week.

12.01.2022 A interesting project we have been involved with is the machining and burnishing of journals for traction motor bearings. It has been a challenging process with good results.

11.01.2022 Been another busy week for us with lots of things coming together. We have started to get our new boring machine set up and running. First job will be boring the castings for C17 cylinders. A basic jig will be used to utilise the dowels that are being used by our customer to locate them on their frames. We have had a small section of the frame laser cut from drawings supplied by the customer to enable us to check the cylinders will mount in the correct position. Apprentice ...Chris has been busy making the last few brake gear pins for a big locomotive. All the serviced components have been set out so we can ensure everything is correct and to the required standards as required by the customer. We have also increased our welding capacity with the addition of a new welding machine.

11.01.2022 A few months ago we placed a order for a CNC mill. This week it was completed and will be on its way. This will be a big improvement into the production and manufacturing of parts in house for our live steam locomotives under construction and other small run jobs bringing more capabilities in house to our machine shop. We look forward to the run of parts for our 30 class project which has been coming along proving designs and the first bogie tender coming along nicely. This is our machine in the Syil factory after being constructed.

11.01.2022 As some of you may have heard Lithgow was battered by fire pretty heavily yesterday. Our workshop being in the centre of town is well away from the mountains and has not been affected. Thanks to all for checking in on us its greatly appreciated.

11.01.2022 Another interesting project we have been working on over the last few weeks has been the wiring and setting up of automation of a HO scale railway for a customer. It has been a big exercise having hundreds of wires needing to be run and a lot of soldered joints.

09.01.2022 The first of a few Westinghouse air compressors coming along.

08.01.2022 Happy New year to all our followers and customers. We have been busy over the Christmas new year period. Here are some of the things we have been up to. ... We are busy on all fronts with lots of Live steam locos under construction and a number of overhauls coming along. We have a few small batch runs of machining jobs for model locos as well. Here is one of a few cylinders we are machining for a customer. We have also been busy working on some full size locomotive parts replacing lots of pins and bushes for brake rigging. A water pump for a Aveling road roller now has a new ram and bush in the stuffing box. We have rolled and fitting boiler cladding for a Britannia with a sample stainless boiler band. We also have taken delivery of the profile cut plates for the spark arrester we posted the 3D model late last year.

08.01.2022 Always busy we have been busy working on a number of things we are busy with miniature loco construction and repairs as well as larger projects. The Nigel locomotive is coming together work is beginning on the final assembly and painting. We have also completed new cranks and crank pins for the J class ready for them to be fitted to the axles. ... A small repair job has been the machining of a water pump ram for a road roller. With more improvements to our CNC router we have been producing a number of labels and badges below is a sample of a large piece of engraved sheet.

07.01.2022 While most of the world has been in lock down we have been working away on customer jobs the last few months here are a small number of bits we have been machining off our cnc machines.

07.01.2022 Our first test part on our CNC mill As we expect it has done a great job. Now that we have the computers and machine all talking we are now in the first stages of setting it up to make many parts for our 30 class locos and also a heap of one off jobs that are a heap simpler on the CNC then a conventional mill.

06.01.2022 After all this time and many hours from the team, The big project we have been working away on is coming into the final assembly and the last few major machining jobs are finally nearing the end. We look forward to sharing this loco and all the other work we have been busy with in the coming weeks.

05.01.2022 A basic last minute fabrication for a customer are some custom set of ramps.

05.01.2022 Some workshop activities this week has seen more parts going together. The spark arrestor we are currently working on including the petticoat pipe has been welded to the two flanges that will hold the chimney and petticoat pipe together on the loco. The assembly lines for 30 classes are in full swing. ... We have a 6 wheel tender coming together. The wheels we profiled in our cnc lathe which makes light work of the treads. The tender will have a well in the tank that sits between the wheels. Next week will see axle boxes and horns machines and fitted to the frame as well as the last of the assembly for the drag boxes. The new boring machine has also been getting some use on a few small jobs and its already proving a valuable tool in the workshop. We will be offering for sale shortly a range of buffers these will be available from our shop.

05.01.2022 A short clip of a finishing pass on the CNC on a cast iron wheel. We will also be supplying a range of steel wheels that will be available in our shop.

04.01.2022 Further development of the spark arrestor we are working on for a customer.

04.01.2022 After a lot of searching we found a horizontal boring machine that is a great addition to our machine shop. This machine will go along way to the many items that we machine. Simplifying set ups for such things as cylinder castings.

03.01.2022 1.5 Queensland railways cow catcher kits that we have been developing. Keep an eye on our store for these items shortly.

01.01.2022 Over the last few months we have been busy with air brake work for a growing customer base. Recently we have undertaken extensive repairs to air brake and brake rigging in particular to ensure rolling stock is safe and fit for service. A few weeks ago we saw a number of wagons and loco out on a works train that we have completed inspections and maintenance on.
