25.01.2022 Eamon is awake and doing well. The surgery was a little more complicated than expected but the Drs are happy with the result. We are very proud of our beautiful boy xx

23.01.2022 An early morning appointment in Palo Alto with Dr Roberson who did Eamon's atresia repair surgery in April. Dr Roberson cleaned his ear canal, new ear and removed a few stitches. All looking good for our return to Brisbane tomorrow night. We see Dr Reinisch tomorrow afternoon in LA before our flight.

23.01.2022 One of Eamon's friends is raising money for the same surgery Eamon had. If you love Mexican food and don't feel like cooking on Saturday, pick up an amazing meal. No cooking for me!

22.01.2022 It's been a busy few days. We drove back from Palo Alto to LA for an appointment with Dr Reinisch. He's pleased with Eamon's ear although it will be another 6 months until all the swelling has gone down. We then went straight to the airport for our 13 hour flight home. Home now - happy, exhausted and getting ready to go back to work tomorrow. What a whirlwind adventure!

22.01.2022 We all went to the Hear and Say open day today to show Eamon's Dad the amazing new centre. Then it was off to the shops with 2 little zombies. Little brothers certainly grow up quickly

19.01.2022 We saw Eamon's ENT yesterday. He has given Eamon a course of antibiotics to prevent infection. His ear is very swollen but he feels that it will be ok, although the healing process will be a little longer now. Now, we just need to stop him from running, climbing, jumping .........

17.01.2022 Feeling a bit crazy after a long haul flight and no sleep. We arrived safely, met Dr Reinisch and are ready to go for surgery on Wednesday (US time).

17.01.2022 Starting to feel a whole lot better - ice cream straight from the container and a little bit of tourism at Hearst Castle.

17.01.2022 Still chilling out in San Diego. Our next appointment with Dr Reinisch is on the 30th of September when he will remove Eamon's ear mold. Desperately trying to make sure Eamon doesn't bump his ear or sleep on his ear - not always successfully though.

13.01.2022 Eamon saw his ENT today with a sore, swollen ear canal. Diagnosis: swimmers ear. I think it's a bit hard to avoid in the weather we have had lately. Hopefully things will be back to normal next week. It's going to be hard to keep our little fish away from the pool though.

13.01.2022 Eamon is still loving making things and playing with friends at Kindy. He made a globe today with Australia, Ireland (where his Dad was born) and of course America (where his ear was born!!).

13.01.2022 Eamon made his first creation at Kindy today. He tells me that it's his teacher. Great job Eamon!

12.01.2022 Eamon visited his kindy this morning. He is so excited about being a big kindy boy next year - he put on his new t-shirt and hat in the kindy car park.

12.01.2022 Eamon went for a haircut for the first time since his surgery. His hairdresser was amazed by his new ear!

12.01.2022 Unfortunately it has been a tough few weeks for Eamon. It seems his accident 5 weeks post Ear Reconstruction has come back to haunt us. Repeated ear infections has resulted in a complication that only revision surgery can fix. So it's back to the US for us with surgery on 20 May. Eamon is taking it all in his stride and is enjoying reminiscing about our previous trips. He is such a beautiful boy xx

11.01.2022 Eamon assured me that his bedroom is tidy!

10.01.2022 Eamon's bandage is off and he has an ear mould on his ear for the next 10 days. He's a little bit sore but in high spirits.

09.01.2022 Eamon saw Dr Reinisch this afternoon. He removed Eamons ear mold and everything is healing nicely. His ear will be pretty red and swollen for the next 3 months but wow what an amazing start!

07.01.2022 We have been in contact with Eamons surgeon in the US over night. He expects there to be lots of swelling before his ear calms down and heals. Another hurdle but we are hoping for a full recovery.

07.01.2022 Just been in to visit Brisbane's new Hear and Say Centre. It's amazing. Can't wait to get started again with playgroup and speech therapy in a couple of weeks.

04.01.2022 It's been a stressful afternoon. Eamon managed to run straight into our sofa and hit his ear with force. There was blood, tears and bruising. Our GP feels its just superficial damage but I think it will be a restless nights sleep for me. Despite supervising him 150% for weeks I managed to watch him run into a sofa. Grrrr!

04.01.2022 Oliver: Do you know what's special about today Eamon? It's the last day of the year. Eamon: that's not even exciting Oli. Hang on, I am going to start kindy! We couldn't be more excited for Eamon who is heading into the new year (and kindy) with 2 big ears and the gift of hearing. ... Thanks to everyone for your ongoing support. Enjoy your New Year celebrations.

03.01.2022 Eamon has to wear an ear mould every night for the next for the next 4 months. I found Eamon in his bedroom this morning making a blue tac ear mould for his doll! She had just had surgery apparently!

02.01.2022 Success! Dr Reinisch is happy with Eamons ear and we can fly home tonight.

02.01.2022 Our beautiful boy starts Kindy today. It's been quite a journey to get here and we are extra proud of him today.

01.01.2022 Eamon has been spending s lot of time in front of the mirror in the last few days. It's amazing to see Eamon with 2 big ears. We are in Palm Springs for the next few days then heading up north to see Dr Roberson (who made Eamon's ear canal) for a check up.
