20.01.2022 Road Safety: - We also focused on road safety. Children started to learn about the traffic lights this week. Last week, children were interested in the traffic light set which was set up outside, so we decided to put it into our learning. I showed the traffic light and we had a little discussion about it. What it is and what the different traffic lights mean. We all learnt about the traffic lights’ colour green, red and orange and also the meaning. We sang twinkle twinkle tra...ffic light. To extend this learning, children participated in the art and craft. Children were provided the circle coloured paper to make a traffic light. Children checked the traffic lights and pasted papers to make own traffic light. Children are using their fine motor skills and thinking skills for where to paste or which order to paste. Learning outcomes: 3.2.7 manipulate equipment and manage tools with increasing competence and skill 5.1 Children interact verbally and non-verbally with others for a range of purposes

15.01.2022 This year will be hosting a Food Drive for the Salvation Army who will be gifting food donations to families who are in need during the festive season. As COVID-19 continues to impact individuals, families and communities across the country, your support now is more important than ever. Every donation, no matter how big or small can help us make sure we leave no one in need this festive season. We would like to invite our families and community to take part in our food drive... by donating food items that are new/unopened and are non-perishables with long expiry dates. Donations will be accepted over the next few weeks leading into early December. We would like to thank our families who have already dropped off donations. Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world

15.01.2022 Recycling and rubbish Sorting In Toddler 1 room have started to learn about recycling and garbage. Educator discussed with children that certain stuff like cardboard and paper go into the blue bin in the room, which is for recycling. Stuff like tissue paper and gloves go into the red bin which is for general waste. Educators showed children picture blocks of chip wrappers, milk cartons, plastic bottle and cardboard boxes, then we asked children where each of the picture block...s go to- blue or red? After asking children questions such as, where do you put the paper after you finish drawing? Where to do you throw your food scraps? Educators also offered some fruit’s skin (banana, apple orange), papers and card boards to throw in the correct bins. 2.4 Children become socially responsible and show respect for the environment 4.3 Children transfer and adapt what they have learned from one context to another See more

12.01.2022 After learning about clouds and rain in Pre Kiner we noticed a lot of children begin to talk about rainbows . We have also been reading books and watching videos about rainbows and learning the colour spectrum. So we created our own special rainbows using rainbow colours. Children talked to each other about different types of rainbow that they were painting like C- shaped rainbow, cloud rainbow, heart shaped rainbow, etc. Through this they are practicing their social, vocabulary and communication skills by sharing their ideas. Learning Outcome 4.3: Children transfer and adapt what they have learned from one context to another. Learning Outcome 5.3: Children express ideas and make meaning using a range of media.

12.01.2022 Magnets Play Children have been using magnets to construct and build what they are thinking. For example, children would piece the magnets together and make a ‘big house’, ‘tall house’ or even a ‘fence’. They would often say ‘it’s a big one’ or ‘look’ to show the Educator what they had built. Furthermore, as the magnets play have different shapes such as, square and triangle, it allows children to extend on their learning about shapes! When Educators asked children what shape is this? whilst pointing at the triangle magnet, children are able to confidently reply with triangle. Learning Outcome: 4: Children are confident and involved learners 5: Children are confident and involved learners

10.01.2022 Junior Kinder children have been exploring familiar routines by engaging in dramatic play with the babies. They have been demonstrating their knowledge of how to look after babies; from feeding them, packing essential items when going for a stroll with the pram, taking them to the potty and bathing them. They are such great carers for the little ones! Learning Outcome 4.3 Children transfer and adapt what they have learned from one context to another.

10.01.2022 Shapes: - Children are also learning about shapes in our Toddler two room, so we set up experience to make patterns using different shapes. Children found it challenging, but with support and encouragement they were persistent to complete the patterns. They are developing their fine motor skills, hand/ eye coordination and knowledge of shapes such as hexagon, pentagon. We also used the coloured shapes to learn about shapes. Children were telling the colours and knew triangle. We talked about all the shapes and their sides. Children repeated after me and then we tried to find the shapes in the room. Learning outcomes: 4. Children are confident and involved learners. 5.4 Children begin to understand how symbols and pattern systems work

06.01.2022 To extend on the children’s problem solving skills, the Junior Kinder children have been working on matching to solve puzzles. Recently they have been making different shapes in their play. They have begun sorting out shapes and matching them based on their appearance. They are paying close attention to how many sides the shape has particularly pentagon and hexagon! Learning Outcome 4.2 Children develop a range of skills and processes such as problem solving, inquiry, experimentation, hypothesising, researching and investigating.
