25.01.2022 Significant Weather Threat Map Wednesday, 2 December 2020 NT: Scattered tending isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue for parts of the Top End today, with the potential for gusty thunderstorms through the Daly and Gregory districts. Localised strong to damaging winds may be likely with thunderstorms through these districts. Localised moderate to heavy rainfall may also lead to areas of very localised flash flooding over the forecast period. Frequent clou...d-to-ground lightning may be present with severe thunderstorm activity. QLD: Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible for central and southern inland parts where a small minority of thunderstorms may become severe during the afternoon and evening for damaging winds and potentially moderate to heavy rainfall. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are also expected about the tropical north through parts of the Peninsula and northern Gulf Country. Very hot daytime temperatures are expected to continue through western parts of the state with temperatures to 44 likely for parts of the Channel Country. Issued at 9:04 am WST on Friday 9 April 2021 Headline: Tropical Cyclone Seroja expected to bring dangerous weather conditions to the west coast during Sunday or Monday. Areas Affected: Warning Zone None. Watch Zone Coral Bay to Lancelin including Carnarvon, Denham, Kalbarri and Geraldton. Cancelled Zone None. Details of Tropical Cyclone Seroja at 8:00 am AWST: Intensity: Category 1, sustained winds near the centre of 75 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 100 kilometres per hour. Location: within 45 kilometres of 19.0 degrees South 110.0 degrees East, estimated to be 540 kilometres northwest of Exmouth and 760 kilometres north northwest of Carnarvon. Movement: southwest at 18 kilometres per hour. Tropical Cyclone Seroja is forecast to gradually intensify as it tracks to the southwest over open waters today and then to the south on Saturday. On Sunday, Seroja is expected to turn to the southeast and accelerate towards the west coast before making landfall late Sunday or early Monday between Carnarvon and Jurien Bay. Hazards: GALES with gusts in excess of 90 kilometres per hour are likely to develop in an area between Coral Bay and Lancelin during Sunday afternoon and evening. Heavy to intense rainfall are likely close to the track of Seroja during Sunday and Monday. No significant rainfall recorded in the 24 hours to 9:00 am Friday. Rainfall forecast totals for Saturday will range from 5 to 10 mm in the flood watch catchments. Issued at 10:56 am CST on Friday 26 February 2021 Flood Watch Number: 7 FLOODING TO CONTINUE IN PARTS OF NORTH WEST AND ROPER RIVERS A trough across the north coast of the Top End is weakening and expected to move further north into the Arafura Sea over the weekend. Drier air moving into the Top End will see showers and thunderstorms become more isolated and confined to the north coast over the weekend and early next week. Catchments across the Top End are saturated and many creeks, streams and rivers are flowing strongly throughout. Rainfall totals of 150 - 320 mm have been recorded in many parts of the flood watch area during the past week on top of good wet season totals to date.
