19.01.2022 R U OK?? In the wise words of Piglet : Piglet?, says Pooh.... Yes Pooh? said Piglet. Do you ever have days when everything feels Not Very Okay At All? And sometimes you dont even know why you feel Not Very Okay At All, you just know that you do. Piglet nodded his head sagely. Oh yes, said Piglet. I definitely have those days. Really? said Pooh in surprise. I would never have thought that. You always seem so happy and like you have got everything in life all sorted out. Ah, said Piglet. Well heres the thing. There are two things that you need to know, Pooh. The first thing is that even those pigs, and bears, and people, who seem to have got everything in life all sorted out they probably havent. Actually, everyone has days when they feel Not Very Okay At All. Some people are just better at hiding it than others. And the second thing you need to know is that its okay to feel Not Very Okay At All. It can be quite normal, in fact. And all you need to do, on those days when you feel Not Very Okay At All, is come and find me, and tell me. Dont ever feel like you have to hide the fact youre feeling Not Very Okay At All. Always come and tell me. Because I will always be there.

18.01.2022 In 2008, the GFC struck. Most people panicked and expected the worst. But, there were a small number of entrepreneurs who saw this as a golden opportunity, and the following companies were born: WhatsApp, 2009 (Acquired by Facebook for $19b)... Venmo, 2009 (Acquired by Braintree for $26m) GroupOn, 2008 (Valued at $726m) Instagram, 2010 (Acquired by Facebook for $1B) Uber, 2009 (Valued $47B) Pinterest, 2010 (Valued at $8.6B) Slack, 2009 (Valued at $15.9B) Fast forward to 2020, and the landscape finds itself in a similar state... But, if weve learnt anything from history, its that from nearly every crisis lies the seed of opportunity Our leaders should be stepping up right now! They should be exploring new initiatives and courageously driving change! What practices are you transforming? Is your leadership team stepping up or are they swimming in the safety zone?

17.01.2022 RIP to Sir Ken Robinson, an eloquent and indefatigable defender of the role of the arts and creativity in education. His TED talks made him world-famoushis presentation called "Do schools kill creativity?" remains the most popular TED talk of all timeand he wrote widely, including major books on creativity in 2001 and 2015. Robinson was knighted in 2003 for his distinguished career in service to the arts. He was a staunch critic of standardized tests and compliance-based classrooms, and an unapologetic champion of every kind of creative endeavorfrom theater, to music, film, painting, dance, and everything in between. He died yesterday after a brief battle with cancer. His voice will be greatly missed.

06.01.2022 Just found this and love it! Repetition changes nothing in the object repeated, but it does change something in the mind which contemplates it (Deleuze, 2004, p.9). Go forth with conviction in your day, that you don't need to plan daily!

05.01.2022 This looks interesting!

04.01.2022 This quote from Loris Malaguzzi was written in the 90s but is just as relevant today. "The loneliness, the separation, the indifference and the violence that more and more characterise social life, run counter to our proposal; but for us the difficult social situation is a reason for working even harder at what we do, while for the families it is a reason for welcoming our efforts as counteracting the negative influences"(Innovations, Vol1, no2, 1993).

04.01.2022 Reggio Emilia Australia Information Exchange (REAIE) would like to respond to the global call for respectful relationships and on behalf of our members declare ...that we stand in solidarity with Australias First Peoples and advocate to uphold human rights for all citizens. May these tragedies act as a catalyst for reflection and change, or as Malaguzzi said, "one of the many itineraries for orienting our walking together" (Cagliari et al., 2016, p.106). REAIE recognises their ethical responsibility to advocate for reconciliation, social justice, democracy and equity, utilising respectful relationships, listening, reciprocity and participation. Hope for a truly shared humanity can be realised through these values in educational contexts with and for children. #blacklivesmatter

03.01.2022 Have you had these requests too?

02.01.2022 We all need hope!

01.01.2022 Pleased to hear Dan Andrews commentary about the casualisation of the workforce! This trend has been happening in early Childhood Long Day Centres for years. It affects our children as there is a lack of continuity of educators and it disadvantages employees ( mostly women in Early Childhood). This neo-liberal approach privileges profit before people. Lets hope that governments now realise the impacts of these practices and will look into it post pandemic!

01.01.2022 Early Childhood Hub has always loved the metaphor of a compass but it is even more pertinent now, in the world as it is today; defined by unpredictability and change. It is far better to adapt and change your course than to stick to the known and predictable.
