22.01.2022 So much more important to be the nice kid (or grown up)!

21.01.2022 "The neuroscience of singing shows that when we sing our neurotransmitters connect in new and different ways. It fires up the right temporal lobe of our brain, ...releasing endorphins that make us smarter, healthier, happier and more creative. When we sing with other people this effect is amplified." http://upliftconnect.com/neuroscience-of-singing/

17.01.2022 Self-regulation is one of those skills we don't tend to notice unless it's lacking, which means we often don't think about how to help kids develop more of it. ...Fortunately, improving #selfregulation can be fun, and it can be easily woven into daily activities. This video describes five fun and easy games to play with children that help to develop self-regulation skills. You may be surprised to find that many of them are familiar games and old favorites. The secret lies in helping children to make conscious connections between their behaviors and the skills they are using. This can easily be done following any fun game or activity by spending a couple of minutes reflecting together: "What skills did you need to use to play/do that successfully?" Most games involve sharing, turn-taking, waiting, listening, watching, communicating, working with others, and plenty of other skills. Taking a strengths-based approach and helping children to see the skills they already have, helps them to develop these skills and become more in control of when and how often they are used.
