22.01.2022 September already and the promise of Spring and possibly the end of lockdown for Melbourne has us feeling hopeful that it will be a great month. A big welcome to all our new students, who along with our existing students are all doing an amazing job with their course work. Were so VERY PROUD of every single one of you!

22.01.2022 We thought is was about time we introduced you to Nic, our amazing Student Liaison officer. She is the first point of contact for many of our new students and we know its always nice to be able to put a face to the name. Nic commenced with ECT originally as she is currently studying Cert IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping, and has very much enjoyed the transition into the world of Compliance and Student Services. Her role includes assisting our trainers to achieve ECTs goal... of providing exceptional training to our students. Nic is passionate about education and enjoys supporting our students on the journey to achieve their goals. She finds her current role extremely rewarding and she enjoys being able to engage more with students. Were so lucky to have her, especially as she loves the parts of her job that require providing support to the organization and our staff and working within such a great team. Thank you for everything you do Nic!

They built in collaboration with each other, sharing their ideas which they then implemented. This experience was all about the children being self-directed and independent in following directions and developing problem solving skills.

As a team we find ourselves inspired by Reggio based art ateliers within early childhood settings. We have been working hard to create a space within our environment dedicated to a range of creativity explorations. Here’s what @littlelearnerdaycarecentre had to say about their veggie patch, ‘Want the dirt on our AMAZING veggie garden?! The children love having a hands-on approach by planting & picking the produce. It’s a true paddock-to-plate moment when they bring it to our chefs to use in their meals! Families are even enjoying taking home some fresh veggies too.’

08.01.2022 This is a great experience from @buddiesjaspergrange that you can try at home too. All you need is flowers and food dye. Ask your children to hypothesise on what they think might happen to the flowers. You could also leave out some drawing materials as a invitation for them to record what happens.

07.01.2022 This week we did an exercise to learn more about communication. It was a fun one that you can try with all different ages. Sometimes we think we have told someone something and that they have heard us and understood. This goes for the children we work with as well as our peers. This activity demonstrates that its clear that the way we deliver a message can be interpreted differently. Its something to think about the next time you deliver a message. How can you change the ...way you give instructions to best suit the individual child/adult? You might have to alter the way you communicate from just giving verbal instructions. You might need to consider writing instructions down, speaking in an area free of distractions or asking the person to write down what you have said. Be open to communicating in different ways and using a joint trial and error process to find what works best. Take a look at Megans picture at the start of the video and then youll see how her verbal instructions for recreating the drawing were interpreted differently by different students.
