23.01.2022 There is no better way than to work on problem solving & emotional expression on a 36 degree day other than a visit to Glenelg beach to "trap" the sharks so we can enjoy our ice-cream. Miss Fran & her beach assistant had lots of fun working at the higher capacities of DIR Floortime today! Gee it was sunny

15.01.2022 From today, masks will no longer be mandatory for: people present in health care settings (this includes staff and visitors at residential aged care facilitie...s) people working in personal care services (hairdressers, beauty salons, tattoo parlours and similar businesses). Face masks are an additional physical barrier and help to stop the spread of COVID-19. At this time in South Australia it is not mandatory for the general community, but it is recommended to wear a mask when out in public if you are unable to physically distance from others. Learn more about face masks: www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/COVIDmasks

14.01.2022 It is with great sadness that we officially farewell our much loved and respected team member Joanne Pearce. Joanne has been part of the team for 5 years but had made the difficult decision to take work closer to home as it is a 1 hour drive for her each way to get to Ridgehaven. I want to say as a manager/mentor that Joanne's professionalism has been exemplary, but more importantly, her gentle, enthusiastic and caring nature for her clients is to be admired. It was a privilege to see her grow and develop over the years & we were truly blessed. It is with a heavy heart that we say au revoir (but never goodbye) & wish her well on her new journey. Francine Meedendorp (on behalf of the team at ESA) xxxx

13.01.2022 Autism & Meltdowns: A good reminder to 'be respectful' towards the person who is struggling at that moment, along with 'staying calm' & 'supporting the individual' to stay safe as they strive to get back to a state where they feel in control of their emotions.

11.01.2022 Dear Families, from our 'family' to yours, have a wonderful break. Ridgehaven ESA will be closed from the 23rd December (COB) until the 11th January. Thank you for a wonderful year. We got through it despite the challenges of 2020 and for that reason alone, we can pause and breathe. Warm wishes, the team at Ridgehaven xx

10.01.2022 I think we can say with a reasonable level of confidence that Caitlin has settled in to her new workplace just fine!!!!!! Here she is displaying her groovy "set of ears" as I hold her "eyes and brain" (part of what she did when working with a child with autism using the Social Thinking Curriculum)

09.01.2022 We are thrilled with our new signage that was done this morning -thank you Signarama

08.01.2022 A big congratulations to our treasured speech pathologist, Maria Radismissis, on becoming a Godmother to her Godson in the Greek Orthodox Church last Saturday

05.01.2022 Great school initiative! A hands-on way to set foundations for individuals with disabilities to enter the workforce when leaving school. Practical empowerment socially, emotionally & intellectually

04.01.2022 Today we officially welcomed our 4 new staff members to Ridgehaven ESA. Christaire, Caitlin, Nikita & Emma - we are delighted to have you on board!

02.01.2022 Emma & Nikita gave us a wonderful PowerPoint presentation to some of our team about using conversation trees when teaching conversational skills to young people with autism
