03.01.2022 Tinnitus sounds different for everyone. Buzzing, ringing, clicking it’s all noise in your head, and it happens to 1 in 3 of us. Now that we’re spending so much time in quiet places by ourselves, you may find your tinnitus is getting worse and you’re not alone. But why? We asked our head of services, Lize Coetzee. ... "Our day to day lives are actually quite noisy, so during the day, when there is plenty of background noise around us, your tinnitus can sound like it’s not there at all. And then at night, when it quietens down, suddenly your tinnitus becomes noticeable. For some people, the sounds don’t really get in the way of their lives, but for others, it is frustrating and even stops them from sleeping. Now that our lives are quieter overall, tinnitus will be a lot more noticeable, day and night. Lize wants people to know that there are things you can do to help. "We can help lessen its impact on your life. Sometimes, that could be through stress management, a simple earwax removal, or through using a white noise device. For some, a hearing aid also works very well. Is your tinnitus getting you down? Call the new Hearing and Tinnitus Advice Line on 1800 054 667. Open on weekdays.

01.01.2022 It's National Volunteer Week, and we want to thank our fellow Lions over at Lions in Western Australia for collecting and refurbishing unused hearing aids for people in need - particularly children! Find out more at lionshearing.org.au
