25.01.2022 I will be closing the Earthbag Australia - Group and asking everyone to please come across to the Earthbag Australia page if you haven't already done so :) Rather than duplicate information across the two areas, all information will be on the Page from now on. If you have any queries please message Kate Ryan-Taylor or the Earthbag Australia page. It can sometimes take a day or so to respond, after all - we have a life outside Facebook ;) ... Other Updates: - We are waiting on Raintanks to be installed on August 16th - Sparky is back doing his bit this coming week - Render (interior) has maybe a few days work to finish off completely. - The custom bath will be finished within the fortnight - The kitchen bench (custom to dome / circular room) has also been created. The drawers and doors to the cupboards are in progress. (Looking really good!) - One side of the Earth-berm and water collection is nearly done. - Other side of the Earth-berm and water collection will be done soon :) - Solar panels going up this week It is all go, go, go !!! And to top it off... we are nearly done with our book - and will be giving updates on this next week :) *** But don't forget if you are in the group but not the Page, please head on over in the next week so that we can make sure you don't miss out on any of the news & updates

25.01.2022 Just fixed the ticketing link, so apology to those who tried and it didn't work. It is working now, but if you have any issues please let me know by messaging the page or calling the number in the event description.

24.01.2022 Damn it is messy creating a bath! (Almost think I need a bath at the end of it!) Last layer of Cobb on it tomorrow then let it dry then time to tadelakt it.

23.01.2022 One of the awesome results from yesterday (with thanks to the help we received from volunteers who came to our Busy Bee) is that we were able to lay all the water collection pipe! We have one more section to lay once we have had the plumber back to finish his work :)

23.01.2022 If you are in Kendenup this weekend and free even for a few hours let us know. We would love a hand! https://m.facebook.com/events/2400727020205695

22.01.2022 If you are in the Great Southern check this out!

22.01.2022 Earthbag Australia will be speaking at the Green Fair plus having a stall where you can come ask questions. There will be an Open Day at the house the next day (Sunday 3rd November)

21.01.2022 Today was super productive, we got the toilet / bathroom door in place and cobber most of the main room. Only the pantry, hallways and part of the main room left! (Will take more pics tomorrow when it is light again)... Finished the day with a nice campfire, couple beers and great people!

21.01.2022 Being a bit of a shorty, I tend to sit in the window when doing the cobbing of the underside of the window arches

21.01.2022 Pretty exciting to see the first bit of interior render go on the walls. Looking to do a busy bee soon so that we can finish the in fill and do the same on all the walls :)

19.01.2022 Any past volunteers / workshop attendees willing to help out this weekend? Looking at doing the last bags on the Pump shed on Saturday.

18.01.2022 On a drizzly day like it appears to be today, it is nice to be working inside and having a warm consistent temperature. So peaceful! #earthbaghomes #cobb #energyefficientthermalmass

18.01.2022 Absolutely beautiful sunrise photos

17.01.2022 What a beautiful morning!

17.01.2022 With so much focus on the inspirational young Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg lately, you may have missed Indigenous water warrior Autumn Peltier addres...sing world leaders at the United Nations about protecting water. Just 15 years old, Autumn is a Anishinaabe-kwe and a member of the Wikwemikong First Nation and an internationally recognized champion for clean water. A fierce advocate for water protection and conservation since the age of 8, Autumn was nominated for the International Children's Peace Prize in 2017, 2018 and 2019, and was named Top 30 Under 30 in North America for Environmental Education Making a Difference in 2019. In April, 2019 she was named the chief water commissioner by the Anishinabek Nation. Watch this space as inspirational Autumn continues to advocate for the environment and encourages young people to stand up and be heard. #waterwarrior #girlpower #changemakers

16.01.2022 Inside is progressing well - next week will all be about rendering provided this weekend's targets are achieved.

16.01.2022 Thanks to Tankman Mount Barker for installing our raintanks yesterday :)

15.01.2022 Sometimes in a big project like this, you simply need to sit back and enjoy a moment in the sun. Take advise from Winnie the Pooh :) Happy Friday and weekend people! ... Stay tuned for updates this coming week See more

15.01.2022 Look at the progress from bags to Cobb to render

14.01.2022 Check in on your family and friends. Start a conversation today. #ruok https://www.ruok.org.au/

12.01.2022 Some of the photos from moving in day! We cooked our first meal in the house last night, enjoying the comfort of everything being together under the one roof. Anyone who has had "temporary accommodation" would understand the joy of no longer having to live between buildings and caravans and sheds and feeling all over the place. ... Like any new house, there are still things that will need doing as we settle in. We will be doing another coat of external render once the building has settled a bit longer. We need to Cobb and render the pump shed. We need to garden and "pretty up" what has been a building site for so long. In November we will be having an Open Day which we will post in the events on here :)

11.01.2022 My workplace supervisor ... Giving me the look through the bathroom window.

11.01.2022 You have to love it starting to come together

11.01.2022 If anyone is free on Saturday 10th we are having a Busy Bee and doing Cobb! This is surprisingly relaxing (playing with mud) and you don't need to worry about ... the weather as it is inside, nice and cosy! Lunch will be provided. Dinner and a few drinks around a nice campfire will be provided for those who are there at the end of the day :) Any help is appreciated and it is something all ages can take part in (Some of our best Cobb was done by a 2 yr old!) Come along and see and feel free to ask any questions about the whole build. Spend a day in the earthbag dome house :) https://www.facebook.com/events/2307664112782261/?ti=as

10.01.2022 Shared from a volunteer. If you are curious to try it out also, we have a Busy Bee on Sunday: https://www.facebook.com/events/2307664112782261/

09.01.2022 Are you interested in doing Cobb? We are currently doing "in fill" Cobb which is the finishing touches inside the house before the final internal render. (This means we can have fun with it even if it is raining). Be a big kid and have a play with mud and score a free lunch in the process! ;) Just message and let us know when you are available :)

04.01.2022 Looking very bright! Next week (after the 2nd coat of lime wash is finished) we will beginning added the coloured coat! (So no, it won't stay white... on the outside at least)

04.01.2022 A full coat of colour with boiled linseed oil and Olive oil soap. It got put to the test last night (with the rain) and we are pleased to say there was not a single drip in the place :)

04.01.2022 Some updated photos... I need to get my camera out more often :)

03.01.2022 Starting to get render on the inside

02.01.2022 Scott has done an amazing job today on top of the domes (and feeling like he is on top of the world!). What you can see is the first coat with colour, linseed and olive oil soap mix in it.
