25.01.2022 Happy lunchtime, Earthbound family! You asked me to get my skates on and I promised Id deliver this by lunchtime Saturday so here we are - 33 minutes ahead of schedule (most unlike me lately). Mushroom & walnut bolognese in an olive pesto - this one is vegan gluten free and serves two. Simply heat and pour over your favourite pasta - keeping a hold of a cup of the pasta water to help it out! ... Well be here until about 1:30 today and then were off out on delivery. Take care out there, hold on to your hats if youre braving the cold!

24.01.2022 ..and were done for the day! Thank you to everyone who stopped in to chat, some good laughs were had - the sun is so encouraging of the good vibes! Today in birthdays in iso was our much loved fennel and Fable ragu with gnocchi, our spanakopita (which I didnt get a photo of in my swift moves to get it to its table whilst still hot - but it looked divine!), a salad of spinach and snow pea tendrils with capsicum, cucumber, crushed peas with garlic and thai basil, and a ci...trus herb dressing. By special request for a fussy lil peep, I also made these little mushroom and sage sausage rolls - Im told they went down a treat! Another win for the humble mushroom. Dont forget if youve got a special something coming up, were more than happy to create a custom menu for you - and it doesnt need to be vegan, we can work with anything! Have a lovely evening, folks

24.01.2022 Breakfast time! This time we’ve eaten an appropriate meal for the time of day (no southern fried burgers at 8am today, thank you) - today’s brekkie special, a coconut tofu scramble on our much loved sourdough with crispy onions, black salt, mint, coriander and basil. Delish!

24.01.2022 Feeling festive? Today’s hot sell was our christmassy lunch special - lentil and mushroom loaf, with super crispy twice cooked sweet potatoes, tomato and spinach sauce and a lil splash of cranberry and Shiraz reduction because.. Christmas. Served with snow pea tendrils because that’s how we do things around here. Tastebuds tingling? We’ll be back tomorrow from 8am

23.01.2022 Hello family! It isnt often that I post twice on a reel but we needed to take some photos for a story that is being published on Earthbound and Here For Ya, Mate - and then we got chatting. It feels like we only got five minutes with you all whilst we were working with Luke & Rach before the veils dropped, and there have been so many of you we know we havent properly met who have been ordering and dropping in regularly, helping to keep our heads above water. We dont kn...ow what so many of you look like behind the mask - and this is likely to be something that continues long into next year! So we just wanted to say hello, these are our faces - they are tired, worn down, but still smiling, laughing, getting through. When you shop at Earthbound, you are making sure were still here when lockdown is over. Still able to feed you, still able to make sure you are caffeinated, still able to chat and bond. What does that mean for Simone and I? Well.. a lot of things, actually. Youre funding our lives and ensuring that we can continue to use our voice for the causes we are so passionate about. You are helping to megaphone the plight of those who are suffering, those who are marginalised, those who can not megaphone for themselves. Youre allowing Andrew to stand in the kitchen, cooking and nourishing the community, and return of an afternoon to his piano and write about the conversations he has daily with you. You are pushing him to think about what more can be done. Youre allowing Simone the freedom to navigate distance learning and support her son, Colin, without stress knowing that we are covered. You are extending the community of Fossick, whos work has for years has been to bring women of all ages and stages together. These are our faces - dont get us wrong - we havent been smiling the whole way through - but this is what we look like when we talk about you, and what you mean to us. We are loved and we dont take this support for granted. A lady dropped in the other day, and apologised that all she could afford was a cup of coffee. We were gutted to think that anyone would think this wasnt enough - the price of a cup of coffee, along with your grace, conversation and kindness is all we need to see this through. Thank you for loving us when we are new into your lives. Well repay you when the doors open for summer, somehow. Bonus points if you share a selfie below of your iso-face.

23.01.2022 Morning gang! Were a bit late today - but were here! Maeve has the coffee machine fired up, and Andrew is hiding through the back replenishing our vacuum sealed meals! Its a gorgeous morning out there - well be here until 2PM!

23.01.2022 This winter warmer came (and subsequently went straight back out the door) today! Sweet potato, apple and ginger soup - thick and silky, spicy and sweet - a perfect vacuum sealed lunch for two with some of our 36 hour sourdough to help you get through this arctic weather were having ..When Ive made more, that is. ... 21.01.2022 Happy Saturday, family! Thank you for another great week, and what a way to round it off with this sunshine! We are looking for some arty, crafty helpers at Earthbound. Our Scarecrow is looking a little sad, and the new seeds in our planters need protecting from any malicious fairies or mynahs that might be out there. If youd like to help keep our seedlings safe, wed love to see what youve got - we have four $50 vouchers up for grabs for the best entries, and winners wil...l be picked by a highbrow team of art critics, including our cat, Seven. The details: - We encourage everyone to enter, regardless of age or ability! - Our pillars at Earthbound are: sustainable, wholesome, ethical, community. Wed love to see these brought into your finished scarecrow somehow. - Your scarecrow cant be taller (from foot to hat) than 60cm - otherwise it may take off in high winds. It also shouldnt be too heavy or it may fall over, and end up like Grandpa E who at this stage, isnt doing much scarecrowing and is probably destined to be composted soon - Your scarecrow needs to be mounted on a cane - but if you dont have one, we have a heap! To enter, send us a picture of your scarecrow via Facebook message Entries finish at close of play on the 3rd of October - and well be sure to announce the winner by close of play Monday 5th! Happy crafting - EBB

21.01.2022 Earthbound are looking for a gun to join our team on a casual basis. Who are Earthbound? We expect you’d be able to tell us - we value people who know and care, who do their research. What’re we looking for? We need someone who knows their way around a coffee machine, is fast on their feet, who isn’t afraid of getting involved in the kitchen. 19.01.2022 Happy Friday, folks, we made it through another week! Today on deliveries was huge for us, we cant even start to tell you what it means to have your support in these awful times. Speaking of, I wanted to give a shout out to another local small business. Based in Hurstbridge, our dinner tonight was courtesy of my husband via the amazing Greasy Zoes! If youre looking for great food over there because of travel restrictions, Lachlan and Zoe are a total recommend from us. This... vegan feat was a gorgeous pearl barley and broccolini pie, with a radicchio salad and mustard dressing, a pea pure and my absolute favourite broccolini and chard.. I think. Apologies GZs if I got anything wrong here (and also for my poor plating, we are not fancy when at home) - your food was amazing and the Giammarino Fiano wine pairing was the perfect match to cut across the bitter radicchio. Its not often I get cooked for, this was heaven. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend - were open for coffee, produce, and meal kits tomorrow until lunch time - see you soon

19.01.2022 Happy Thursday.. or is it? We will be closed this morning due to an electrical fault! Our building has no power - eek! Update.. some fights are not worth having. AUSNET are telling us there’ll be no power until 12:30 so we’re going to stay closed! If anything changes faster than that we’ll update again! ... Sorry for those who desperately need caffeinating, we wish we could help

19.01.2022 Todays little birthday dinner package was made from: - Pumpkin and ginger soup with sourdough - Fable & fennel ragu beefed up (hahaaa) with spinach and a decent glug of yarra valley cab sauv, with twice roasted potatoes by special request tossed in garlic and rosemary salt, yum! - Spinach, radish, orange and Lebanese cucumber salad and... - A romaine salad with Lebanese cucumber, capsicum, Yay! Feta, basil and a sweet orange dressing. - An after dinner treat of our spiced vegan carrot cake. Delish! Thanks for the support Peter - wishing your wife a happy birthday! We want to still be here when this is all over so that we can invite you back to our table, but we really need our community supporting us to make sure this happens - if you have something special coming up that you would like us to cater, send us a message! 18.01.2022 Happy Sunday, family! Lots of you have been asking about a piano that recently moved into Earthbound. Tonight, it moved back out - and was replaced with this magnificent German walnut number, kindly donated to us by Carolyn, who’s grandmother’s family had owned it forever. Why do we have a piano all of a sudden, you might want to know? ... Well.. if we all behave ourselves, and get through this last stretch of lockdown.. you may just find out. Stay safe out there, see you Tuesday #thepianohasbeendrinking

17.01.2022 Hello family! Quick (but incredibly important) announcement - we sell a lot of MILKLAB almond milk. We love it, you love it, it flies off the shelf! However, MILKLAB have issued a product recall for quality/possible contamination of their almond milk. ... The affected batches have the following best before dates: 18/06/21, 01/07/21, 20/07/21, 29/07/21, 06/08/21. If we have recently delivered or sold you almond milk which has one of the best before dates above, please get it back to us as soon as possible, or reach out to us directly and we can arrange to collect it - it is of the utmost importance that you dont continue to drink it, even if you feel fine. If you have recently been drinking this, and dont feel well, Food Standards ANZ recommend that you seek medical advice. Once we have the affected stock back and we know who has received it, well replace your milk, on us, or if youre concerned, can refund it or replace with another milk alternative - we apologise for the inconvenience! Please yell out, and thank you for your understanding :)

17.01.2022 Anyone seen our plant? We thought he was really happy with us here.. We know he was a bit unruly and needed to be pruned, but are not of the opinion that he was big enough to walk away by himself. (Picture taken a few weeks ago one rainy morning when we realised wed forgotten to take our sign.. which didnt manage to walk away!)

16.01.2022 Afternoon family, happy blowy Wednesday! Todays hump day birthday box went out to Melissa for her husbands iso-birthday! It was cooked like I imagine my great grandparents cooked; in the dark, because the power was down for most of the day. Lucky we have gas hey - one big ole sourdough via Baked for Sofia. ... - a bottle of Yarra Valley Merlot via Handpicked Wines - selection of fabulous vegan cakes from our mates at Little Bertha - Fennel and Fable ragu, because its a beast of a meal, this time with gnocchi rather than polenta - hopefully in the not too distant future well see it on a dine in menu! - Mushroom and walnut bolognese in a Sicilian olive pesto with spinach linguine and - Celeriac steaks with braised fennel and garlic, fennel shavings, salsa verde and white bean mash. Happy birthday! If you need something catered during the last few weeks of lockdown, were eager to help you out - by supporting our local business youre personally contributing to saving us and making sure that were still here when this is all over - thank you so much. We need our little community more than ever right now, and youve shown us the whole way through this wild ride that youre here so, thank you, again, we love you and feel so blessed.

16.01.2022 A couple of snaps from yesterday’s shenanigans with Here For Ya Mate - it’s bloody great to be back and rolling again after what has felt like an endless winter for so many people. We were too ‘in the moment’ to remember to take photographs throughout the day - but pictured: one exhausted, happy team, vegan momos with chilli sauce, oyster mushrooms marinaded in smoked maple and soy, with chilli and peach relish in beet brioche. Not pictured: alllllll the dumplings, barbecue..., coffee and molasses marinaded Fable, calamari, all of the hummus and roast carrot and cumin dip with herb roasted sourdough, and a gang of incredibly happy celebrators. Happy Sunday - hope you’re all getting out to enjoy some sunshine! See you Tuesday

Our doors are open, the sun in shining, Maeve has the coffee machine fired up and ready to go.. see you soon! ...

10.01.2022 Got our lavender on today courtesy of our mates at The Veggie Empire! Lavender is a great antiseptic and anti-inflammatory - but more than that, is great for our pollinators who need all the help they can get - and we need them to be on it. Looking forward to these little babes growing up and joining our sunflowers, billy buttons and the host of herbs and flowers growing in our planters. Look forward to seeing you tomorrow - doors open at 9am - and we heard rumours of banana... bread, with bananas donated by Greenhills Neighbourhood House. This is the final few weeks, family - we need your support now more than ever to get us through this last push and ensure we’re still here when this blows over. Thank you for the love, we are humbled - we are wouldn’t be here without you, supporting us. 08.01.2022 Morning family! Its a beautiful morning again (small wins!) and were here until early arvo for coffee, fruit and veg, and take home meals! I just wanted to give an update on what your Here For Ya Mate donations are contributing to - so many of you have been generous enough to chip in at the checkout, and we have a number of amazing folks who make a recurring donation every week with their standing fruit and veg orders. Thank you doesnt seem like a powerful enough word ...- but for the people who were able to help out with these donations, they make the world of difference. Weve taken boxes of fruit and veg, cakes, bread and milk out to so many families who are struggling through this and were really grateful for the opportunity to help out.. today weve got a really special delivery going out to Greenhills Neighbourhood House, who Here For Ya Mate heard needed donations of a number of things but in particular, bread. What makes this one particularly cool is that we were able to reach out to STREAT, who were happy to get us into their delivery run. STREAT have cafes all over Melbourne, and their store at Melbourne Central was the first cafe I got a coffee from when I got to Melbourne in 2014 from Scotland - Id never seen anything like it. STREAT support disadvantaged youth aged 16-25 and offer them a supported pathway from the street to a sustainable livelihood, and offering a number of programs including accredited certificate courses, work experience programs, and short courses in hospitality. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped us out with this - most of all our excellent pals Here For Ya Mate, youre all brilliant! Andrew

Today we were able to get all of our little plant babies outside for some vitamin D (which well admit we also needed) and were dropped in on by The Natural Helper, B.Seedeen Pattern & Print and a number of other lovelies! By special request for a fussy lil peep, I also made these little mushroom and sage ‘sausage’ rolls - I’m told they went down a treat! Another win for the humble mushroom. Don’t forget if you’ve got a special something coming up, we’re more than happy to create a custom menu for you - and it doesn’t need to be vegan, we can work with anything! New in this week, joining the rest of the line up - - Porcini and brown mushroom soup, with lemon, thyme and parsley. Yum! - Beetroot and vegemite hummus. Ill admit I didnt create this, its just a riff on our already legendary beetroot hummus, which is still av...ailable! - Mushroom and walnut bolognese, in an olive pesto sauce. Delish with big chunky pasta noodles, but whatever your favourite is will be fab - this isnt quite ready, Im still playing but I should have it ready to go by Wednesday! This week, Im also putting together a set of meals for a family celebrating a special birthday - do you have something coming up? Send me a message, Id love to help! And of course, the never ending - if you want to support local and keep away from the supermarkets, order online (link below) by 6PM and well deliver free of charge to you, Tuesday through Saturday. Or pop in to say hi, and you can grab your bits and pieces whilst youre waiting for your coffee. Through our website too, you can make a donation to Here For Ya, Mate, our friends who are getting around the local community supporting those who are having the worst of times right now. I match these donations personally where I can, and they pay for produce, meals, and other little bits to bring a bit sparkle to the day of those who need a little lift and love. You can also ring up if you want to send someone you love some goodies - we can arrange that no issue! Take care and stay safe out there - were halfway through and it will only get better if we all do the right thing. AGN www.earthboundbolton.com/produce-orders/

05.01.2022 We’re not really tree and tinsel people - but we certainly are local artist supporting people! Perhaps it’s a little early but we couldn’t wait to get these fabulous Christmas ISO chook by the wonderful Joan Denison - local Eltham legend - up on our walls. We need some cheer right now and these cute chooks are ticking all the boxes for us. Cheers Joan - bloody love your work, we sent some people to find you today! ‘Our chooks aren’t for sale, sorry!’ became the shop mantra!

05.01.2022 Happy Saturday, family! It’s World Mental Health Day - and a really important reminder for those of us in Melbourne. We’ve been locked up a long time and so many of us are in pain. This isn’t a marketing post, we’re not going to say something tacky like ‘come get a coffee and some sunshine!’ ... But it’s important that you all get outside today, and take some time for yourselves. As many as 1 in 5 of us experience some form of mental illness, and many don’t speak up because of the stigma that surrounds these issues. If you do need to talk to someone, a really great place to start is with your GP, or if you need to talk to someone in a crisis, can contact Lifeline on 13 11 14. Look after yourselves, family - this has been so hard but we’re nearing the end. This will be a distant memory, soon enough!

04.01.2022 We’re never short of inspired (or shocked, tbh) by our community’s willingness to get involved. Here’s Ant, teacher, husband, long term supporter of Earthbound, doing his bit to contribute to an amazing charity championing mental health, testicular and prostate cancer. If you’ve got a spare dollar, consider chipping it in here - during times like those we live in, it’s hard to know where to put our goodwill - but if we all pick thing that is important to us, we should have... most of it covered in next to no time. Pan fried gnocchi from Nick's Gnocchi and Pasta, in a coconut, cumin and pumpkin sauce, with crispy sage and marinated vegan feta by YAY Foods. This Saturday we’ll be closing our kitchen slightly early at 1:30 to prep for a special birthday party we’re having at Earthbound - but we’ll be open from 9AM so you can get your fix, and back the following morning on Sunday until 2 as normal!

04.01.2022 Fresh, juicy Nashi peaches - and our new house juices - we’ve got everything you need! Fresh produce, coffee, the freshest bread on earth, Earthbound-cooked meals to heat at home, cakes.. We’re here until 2PM. We’ve really loved the love throughout lockdown - thank you to everyone who has popped in or shopped online for free delivery, you’ve personally contributed to making sure we’re still here when this is over. ... Rumour has it we might need to be on alert to reopen our doors in as little as twelve days.. we’re excited and we are itching to finally welcome you all back to the table. There’ll be more to come on that as the information becomes more apparent so watch this space - but in the mean time, like many small businesses, we are doing it tough and we really need your support in *one hopefully last push* to get through this. If you need groceries, or just a caffeine hit, drop by to see us

03.01.2022 Afternoon family! After the baby spana a few weeks ago, we brought in a bigger mama spana and you seemed to love those too! Seeing as spring appears to have finally sprung, and we hope everyone is enjoying some sunshine on their faces, we thought you may enjoy a family size spana - chard, spinach, YAY! feta in a filo casing! Something lighter for the nicer weather to enjoy together whilst we drill through these last hard weeks. ... Although the news wasnt what we were hoping for (and we know for many, that this news wouldnt have been received well at all), were still going to be working to make sure that were here when this is over - were not going anywhere, and when we reach that stage of a soft release into a Covid normal we will be ready with an updated summer menu, and the table will be set for you. Thank you so much - I dont think we can say it often enough - for the love and support youve given to us. It is everything, you are everything. AGN & Simone. (Edited to add that in my attempt to multitask on writing this post as my cat, Seven, hopped into his new dolls bed, I attached both pictures at once - but since everyone loves a good grandpa cat, Ill just leave him here. Oops!)

Were here until 2 today, drop by and pick one up with your coffee! EBB

01.01.2022 Evening, family. As if things werent bad enough right now, I started my day with an article by Antoun Issa, a Melbourne based journalist from Lebanon who wrote this morning of what he felt in the wake of this latest disaster. We are in pain, worldwide, but we must remember to pay attention and prioritise each disaster, as it happens, as people need help. This isnt a case of how do I stop my house from catching fire, so much as its a case of how do we stop the burning h...ouse from being on fire, and protect those who are not on fire once the emergency is dealt with. Lebanon is in pain right now in a way which should shift our focus for a minute. Our community member Francis from the wonderful Franco & Co is seeking donations to this fund - via the same platform who saved me from a personal crisis in 2016. If you have anything to spare, please think about contributing. Thoughts and prayers are wonderful sentiments, but they dont achieve results or direct support to those in crisis.

01.01.2022 Great afternoon in the garden at Earthbound last week, just in time for Spring Whilst Simone worked on putting orders together and chatting/charming the pants off everyone who visited us, Maeve spent her time planting herbs to get us through the initial stages of spring, as well as Mammoth Russian sunflowers, and Billy Buttons - we have them all around the cafe (but you might have forgotten, because the last time you were able to visit us was in another lifetime), so we th...ought it would be really lovely to grow some in our planters, too! Andrew spent the afternoon digging and bedding down a rosemary bush donated to us by a local, out the front by the Lomandra - he hasnt yet met a plant he could kill, and we hear that rosemary is impossible to knock off, so were hopeful that even in the poor soil, cut with coffee grounds and fresh compost, itll thrive come summer and provide a little shade out on the terrace. We took a lot of cuttings, which are available inside on us - we dont want to see them go to waste! Come grab em with your coffee :D Team Earthbound
