17.01.2022 Just sharing This beautiful weekend of celebrating the Whale migration for interested families taking place in Phillip Island at the start of the school hoildays

16.01.2022 Earth School will again be hosting this beautiful Children's Animal Communication Playshop with experienced International Animal Communication teacher Jacqueline Buckingham. Animal Communication offers the opportunity to build a bridge of understanding, respect and care between the worlds of humans and animals. Reminding our children that we are all a part of nature, helping to restore and instill nature honouring attitudes and behaviours that empower our children to create ...greater harmony in our world. Something we believe that all of us are being called to do in these times. We would so appreciate you sharing with any families with children who you think might enjoy and benefit from this very special opportunity for children to rediscover their natural ability to communicate with animals. There is an early bird special for the first 5 bookings. click on event below for more information.

13.01.2022 In celebration of "Save a Spider Day", I made this cartoon! Spiders are very well known, yet tragically misunderstood. People jump at the chance to hate spider...s and people tend to lump ALL spiders into the DANGEROUS category. Spiders are magnificent creatures and help us in so many ways. MOST spiders are harmless and no spider wants to bite you. Spiders are shy creatures and they simply want to be left alone. Spiders rarely bite humans. Most mysterious bites we get are from other insects, but spiders often get the blame. There are over 40,000 spider species and of these, only about 12 are poisonous. I encourage you to take the time to observe a spider. They just might become less scary to you and they might even become a friend. Just a few of these amazing creatures: -PinkToe Tarantula. A South -American spider whose leg tips are pink. It is one of the few tarantulas that can climb trees and swim. -Goliath bird-eating tarantula, whose body can fill your palm and whose legs can stretch up to 12 inches across. it is the largest spider in the world by mass and size, but it is second to the giant huntsman spider by leg span. -Bagheera kiplingi is a species of jumping spider who survives mostly on plants. Its known as the Ghandi of spiders for its largely vegetarian lifestyle. Spiders are really good at killing "nuisance insects," like mosquitoes and aphids, so start seeing them as a friend, not a foe

10.01.2022 Maybe instead of isolation we could rename it radical self- care and self reflection time. Feels so important to acknowledge the challenge and respond to it in ways that are actually truly helpful to our wellbeing and the planets

09.01.2022 SIT SPOT in NATURE I have just "commited" to a daily sit spot practise in nature. 5 days in. I was scared of this word commitment as it felt so disciplined and that maybe I mightn't have the discipline to stick with it... However the difference in my daily experience has been profound. I have chosen a spot across the road from my home so it is very simple to access each day. ... Firstly I noticed that although the make up of my day was the same I felt different at the end of the day. No matter what my experience had been and some days were stress filled (teaching 120 5-9 year olds gymnastics. Filling in at the very late notice to teach a class of 9 year olds with no work left and no time to prepare work) ....somehow there was this solid feeling of deep peace that was underneath all the events and challenges of the day. ... I didn't collapse with exhaustion at the end of the day. There was this calm underlying peace-full feeling. I was able to almost flow from one event to the next with more energy. THis felt GOOD I missed my sit spot this morning and I felt it. As the busyness of the day unfolded I could feel that familiar knot in my stomach tightening and a sense of where is the solid ground that holds me? The ground was shaky, scary even, certainly overwhelming to my nervous system. I can see how this simple practise of sitting in nature and listening deeply, allowing a relationship to develop with all the other parts of nature surrounding me is making a profound difference in my daily experience. My nervous system naturally begins in balance allowing me to meet the experiences of each day in a more balanced way. I can't imagine not committing or rather gifting myself with this time now. I so encourage you to commit to 5 mornings this week in a sit spot that is easily accessible. I would love to hear of your experiences if you feel to share to. Yours in gratitude to nature Louise Kissane

03.01.2022 We are taking year 3 out into nature tomorrow just because we can and we should and it is so very good for wellbeing. We are even taking shoes off and wandering barefoot........which is interestingly quite ground breaking in many city schools. What other rules is it time to let go of that feel unnatural? I am sure just like this amazing rock art, we will be seeing some unique creations when we allow are children some unstructured time in nature, I might show them this as inspiration before we head out.......Cant wait

02.01.2022 "How do we love all the children? Not just our children, not just the ones who look like us or who have resources, not just the human children but the young o...f birds and salmon and redwood trees. When we love all the children, when that love is truly sacred to us in the sense of being most important, then we have to take action in the world to enact that love. We are called to make the earth a place where all the children can thrive." -Starhawk See more

02.01.2022 Today we finished off our Wellbeing Treasure Chest meditation program with year 3 by spending time in nature, the ultimate treasure in our wellbeing treasure chest. We walked with barefeet upon the silky sand, we noticed how when you look closely the sand shines and sparkles. We found our own sit spots... and drew our own circles to sit within........ we took the time to explore how nature makes us feel. What can we notice that we might usually miss? What can we see? "an Eagle" " the shape of a grain of sand" What do we hear? "the sound of the waves" "the sand squeaks" How does it feel? "the sand melts when you touch it" 'The sun warmed my body" What can you smell? "the salt spray" Can you taste the air? "not sure" Can we take time to notice what we really appreciate about our home? "Can we pleeeeease do this everyday?"
