25.01.2022 You may (or may not) be wondering where miss Earths Harvest has disappeared to? Well, my friends, I have had a huge year, and have brought into this world a beautiful baby boy! As you can imagine, all my time has been soaked up with baby cuddles, kisses and nappies... However, I thought I would touch base with you all and get this community of health and wellness back into the Facebook world. I am still on Maternity Leave and won't be seeing clients for some time yet, but I would love to discuss any health and wellness topics you would like answers for, so tell me, what's on your mind?

As a Naturopath, it is really important to be accessible to people from all different financial abilities, and for those with less disposable income, affordability is an issue. Currently, Naturopaths are not recognised by Medicare, and only patients who have Private Health Insurance with Extras can claim on consultation costs. It is unfortunate that the government will not recognise Naturopaths as Primary Health Care providers, as the people who are af...fected by that decision remain those with lower incomes. The link below takes you to a petition where you can sign to show your support for "Registered Naturopaths with a health science or science degree to be added to the Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) program, so the public can obtain a referral from their GP and receive a Medicare rebate for up to 5 visits" This initiative will take so much pressure off hospitals and doctors, as preventative measures can be taken in certain cases, and also patients who have less income can access our services, and reduce their dependence on pharmaceutical drugs etc.... So please, sign the petition below, if you feel this would be of benefit to the community at large. Help us help the whole community, not just the upper class. <3 Tina

The Sun is shining and Spring has officially Sprung, as we welcome the Spring Equinox :) As it so happens today I am feeling a little under the weather, which often occurs at this time of year with the change of season. Energetically it can signify a "shedding of the old" to allow the new to enter in smoothly. 20.01.2022 Pregnant woman craving - Could be worse I guess lol On my home from work, I conjured up this wrap combo in my head & couldn't wait to make it when I got home! *Cream cheese, grated carrot, grated apple, avocado & toasted sesame seeds on top of a whole meal wrap*... Sounds insane, but as with all crazy combos was amazingly delicious!

20.01.2022 Yes, believe your eyes, this really was my breakfast and a very satisfying one at that! My Gluten-free Chocolate Hazelnut bread, packed full of protein, and delicious homemade chocolate bits, this is definitely a chocoholics kinda brekky, minus the sugar high and guilt! And don't limit yourself to breakfast, this delicious dish can be devoured any time of day, as an afternoon snack with a Roobois tea, or simply as dessert with some homemade icecream and double berries! ... Yum is really an understatement!

20.01.2022 Breakfast just got interesting! Check out these awesome 'Brekky Pops" that I found via Holistic Dad Here is what you'll need (Organic as possible!) - Yoghurt (Plain, natural - Greek is great as it is higher in protein than all other yoghurt) - Fruit: strawberries, kiwi, peach, blueberries, or any fruit you like... - Honey - Oatmeal, nuts (any you like), quinoa flakes etc - Popsicle molds - Popsicle sticks Here's what you do: Cut all the fruit into slices/dices Put yoghurt and all the fruit into a container and mix really well.. Add some honey for a little sweetness You can even blend up strawberries, raspberries or blueberries into the yoghurt mixture to make it even more colourful! Put the mixture in the popsicle molds and let them harden a bit in the freezer Then put the popsicle sticks into the molds and let them completely harden in the freezer Take one popsicle and add a little bit of honey on the top and sprinkle oatmeal, nuts or whatever you please Enjoy as your breakfast or as a healthy dessert alternative for your kids and yourself! Just add your favourite fruits to this base, or some raw cacao powder plus a clean protein powder for a balanced, antioxidant rich breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner or dessert! Chuck any remaining smoothie in ice-cube trays or ice pop makers, and you have yourself a refreshing, healthy ice-cream pole! ... What's your favourite smoothie combination?

Mmmmm Most of the produce was from our garden - like the cucumber, tomato, zucchini, capsicum & oregano. Lovely! What yummy goodness did you devour for dinner tonight?

17.01.2022 Feel like something sweet after dinner, but avoiding refined sugar? Why not try my exceptionally easy summer sorbet that I whipped up tonight?! All you need is: 1 banana (frozen), 1 cup blueberries (frozen), half a mango, and 1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Coconut Oil... Bang it all into a blender, or whizz it up with a handheld, and there you have it! ... A super simple, very delicious, extremely healthy sorbet! If you have popsicle moulds, why not make ice-pops out of this mixture? Mmmm yum! A lovely summer snack, full of good fat, fibre and antioxidants!

15.01.2022 My "Good Morning" Juice. 5 x carrots, 5 x apples, 1 thumb each of ginger and turmeric. What amazing feats this juice is having inside my body: - Reducing inflammation - thanks to some wonderful compounds in ginger and turmeric - Reducing oxidation- due to the high amount of antioxidants contained within all ingredients combined... - Supporting liver detoxification - A compound in turmeric called "curcumin" stimulates the livers phase 2 detoxification pathway, helping to change toxins into water soluble compounds for excretion via the kidneys, bowels and skin. Carotenoids found in carrots also support liver detoxification, by providing "antioxidant" assistance and protecting the liver and other organs/tissues from damage caused by the toxins it tries to "detoxify". - Anti-carcinogenic properties - turmeric is by far the winner here, as well as the carrots, due to their high antioxidant status, and the little black-brown seeds from the apples, which contain amygdalin - and amygdalin has been purported to have "anti-cancer" properties... - Reduce nausea and digestive discomfort - Ginger is well known as an anti-nausea food. 13.01.2022 It's been a few days since I've posted something, Easter madness they call it. Nonetheless, I still make time for myself, which for me entails creating in the kitchen. Autumn is my favourite season. The beautiful coloured leaves, the cooler weather & the primal urge for warming & nurturing foods. Tonight in Melbourne the cool & crisp air filled with the light of our waning full moon just beckoned for something warm & nourishing to be created. ... So I grabbed my juicing apples, frozen berries & a few other ingredients (honey, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg & cloves) and softened them on the stove (add berries just before you take off stove) for 5 or so minutes (with a touch of water & butter or coconut oil). And as I have made the choice too exclude most grains & nuts from my diet, I made up a grain, nut & gluten-free crumble :) How to make crumble: Add 1/2C coconut flour, 1 cup shredded coconut, 2-3 Tbs raw honey, 1-2 Tbs organic butter or coconut oil, 2Tsp (or more) of cinnamon. Crumble together with your finger tips, and lay on top of apple-berry mixture. Bake in oven for 20-25 minutes on 180 degrees Celsius. Amazing! Enjoy with your favourite ice cream, or like me, make my Creamy Dreamy Hot Chocolate (recipe in previous posts) and either freeze and whip into icecream, or refrigerate overnight for a mousse-like consistency. Major yummyness!

08.01.2022 Crazy for Cacao! And here's why (plus it tastes amazing!) Who else has a *slight* obsession with this powerful pod?

08.01.2022 ***I just died and went to sushi heaven!!! Seriously guys, this was amazing !!! Quinoa Sushi Rolls filled with Avocado, Tuna, Carrot & Mayo with a side of Tamari soy sauce & Pickled Ginger omg unbelievable Why have I waited so long to make this! ... Such a quick & easy meal to create, you can have this for lunch, snack or dinner, and even sneak it into your kids lunch box as an uberhealthy meal! I actually cannot describe how amazing this was Want the recipe? You're in luck! I used this fantastic blog post by My New Roots as a guide for making the sushi seasoning (aka 'Tezu') as I was not going to go down the "artificial number, additive-laden, pre-made seasoning" road. And it's so easy to make! Then I just added my own fillings - tuna mixed with a tablespoon of good quality (without additives) mayonnaise and grated carrot plus half an avocado and dry-roasted sesame seeds in the sushi... The possibilities are endless... Put your creative hat on! You can add in leftover grilled chicken, beef, tofu, tempeh, any veggies you like... Wowee! 06.01.2022 Good Morning! Wow, it's been a while! And so much has happened at Earths Harvest HQ - I'm 21 weeks pregnant (yay!) to a beautiful little angel, I've been on a trip of a lifetime with my fiancé, exploring Europe & seeing family overseas & am now looking forward to grounding myself at home, building a beautiful space for our new bundle of joy coming in less than 5 months! This morning, to nourish my growing baby & me, I am eating left-over home-made chicken soup, Greek-style, aka "Avgolemono" which translates to egg & lemon. An amazingly nutritious meal, and so easy to make! Full of the goodness of gelatin, egg-protein & lemon juice, if you're under the weather this is the meal to bring you back up!

Make this hot Choc recipe into ice-cream either with an ice-cream maker, with Icey pole moulds, or just freeze and whiz up for healthy, decadent chocolate ice-cream. Dairy free, refined sugar free, gluten-free, & almost-vegan (sans honey). A 'kids-party-friendly' treat! Enjoy me lovelies!

Full of good stuff like antioxidants, satisfying fats, immune-boosting honey and anti-stress salt, a piece (or two, or three... haha) of this chocolate will do your body a nice amount of good! The term healthy has really been skewed in our modern society, but when it comes down to it, I believe healthy is not only about what we eat, but about how we are in the world, what attitude we portray to those around us, to ourselves. You cannot be a healthy person by only eating well & exercising; you must also be of healthy mind & attitude. So really, what helps your mind be in a state of health? For me, it's getting out into Nature any time I can... It really brings me back into myself, revitalises my spirit, and centres me into the Now.

04.01.2022 Who here watched the segment on ABC's Catalyst tonight on the myth (aka bullcrap) behind saturated fats & cholesterol being "bad" for your health? This is the info I tell my patients all the time! Don't be afraid of saturated fats! They do not cause heart disease - stress, high sugar diets & the massive over-consumption of highly refined vegetable oils (ie. margarine, heated veg oils etc) are the problem! For those that missed it, here it is! A must watch for anyone with so-called "high cholesterol" or family on cholesterol-lowering medication... And for everyone who is interested in their health & wellbeing :)

04.01.2022 'Afternoon pick me up' Instead of reaching for a refined-sugar-laden chocolate bar or biscuit, make yourself this smoothie, rich in antioxidants, protein, calcium & omega 3 fats! Blend:... 1-2 Bananas 1 cup frozen berries of choice - I used strawberries this time 1/4 cup raw cacao powder 1 TBSP raw honey 1 cup milk of choice Once poured in your favourite glass, stir in a tablespoon of chia seeds and garnish with some more! Optional: For extra calcium add 1 tsp tahini (sesame seed paste) Enjoy this smoothie anytime of day, freeze to make 'Ice-Cream' or pour into Popsicle moulds for a healthy 'Ice-Pop' and dip in some nuts for added crunch! That’s a damn fine résumé" Cass & Kate from I Didn't Quit Sugar Th...e 'Quitting Sugar' fad has really been pushed to its limits, and most people are realising the importance of sugar (a basic fuel source for the body) as part of a wholesome, balanced diet. I always recommend my clients eat an abundance of vegetables (including potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkin etc which are all "high sugar" veggies), as well as fruit (all varieties!) & whole, raw, unprocessed sugars in the form of honey, maple syrup or molasses - which all contain a good dose of good ol' sugar. Heck, I use sugars all the damn time when I bake... and in my smoothies, yummy hot coco, ice-pops, home-made dark chocolate and more! The idea for health is not so much the limitation of real foods like sugars & starches, but the exclusion of the fake, processed stuff. It really is simple. Get rid of numbers, packages, processed sugars (such as high-fructose corn syrups), and even worse, artificial sweeteners, and you will be doing your body a whole lot of good! And instead, add in nutrient dense carbohydrates (vegetables & fruits), satisfying saturated fats (butter, coconut oil, ghee, cheeses), proteins (fish, meats, chicken, legumes) and a small amount of grains (whole-wheat, rice, spelt, rye etc) & pseudo-grains (quinoa, amaranth etc). Yes, I do limit most grains with clients who require detoxification & need to avoid them for certain conditions where the inclusion of grains exacerbates inflammation and the like... And yes, I myself have limited grains (key word: limited) for over 5 weeks now, while at the same time eating in abundance "sugar" from vegetables, fruits & raw, organic honey... and have never felt & looked better... However, all in all, sugar from vegetables, fruits & other sources (like honey), is not the enemy in our quest for optimal health & wellbeing - the same way saturated fats are not the Devil in disguise (Let it be said that Mr Margarine is the said Devil... more on that some other time) Again, it's all the other CRAP that our society over-indulges in - Fried-foods laden with hydrogenated-vegetable oils; Foods with shelf-lives & ingredient-lists longer than a Prehistoric Lizard's tongue; Fake sugars & highly-processed junk... and the list goes on. 02.01.2022 It's so lovely coming home to a cooked meal from your loved one! Thank you baby! Pumpkin soup is exactly what this Autumn weather called for! Soul nourishing, heart singing, tummy tempting yummyness! And it tasted AMAZING! I'll have to get him to give me the recipe, and share it with all you lovely folks! A Thai inspired version, with the goodness of anti-inflammatory ginger, satisfying-fatty coconut cream & of course beta-carotene-rich pumpkin! Trying to guess what else he added, and I'm stumped! He's a great cook, and oh-so modest. Hands up who wants my gorgeous fiancé to share his Thai-inspired Pumpkin Soup recipe with us all?

02.01.2022 I'll be honest - I do love chocolate (can hardly tell, right?). And when I can sneak in a healthy dose of raw cacao into my meals, I gladly grasp onto that opportunity with two hands. These little beauties are my Gluten-free "Lovers" Chocolate Pancakes topped with my Strawberry Coconut "ice-cream" and a Blueberry compote. Almost same recipe as last week, but I added in some whey protein into these and I reckon they turned out much better!... Oh wait, I didn't post the recipe last week... Today is my sisters birthday, and here is the cake I created for her special day.
