23.01.2022 So it turns out Mick is actually pretty darn good with his hands. Our good friend Stu at Coolum Beach Realty required a fence to be replaced and Mick was able to erect a great looking colourbond number before all the visitors arrived for the holidays. Great work Mik your range of skills continue to amaze.

09.01.2022 For some time we have been very interested in seeing just how beneficial the advantages of using a wicking bed would be over a traditional raised garden bed. A little bit more work to put together though we feel it has been well worth the effort. (See pics below) For me I see the best benefit being you can actually let the wicking bed go for several days upto a week without requiring watering. Great for those long hot summer weekends away where the veges would normally need a... drink a couple times a day. Also the fact that the veges have flourished so quickly this hasn't given any weeds a chance to grow. So how it works is really quite simple. The bottom layer of the bed is filled with a 5-10mm stone then the soil is put on top of this. The stone becomes a storage chamber for water and wicks up through this feeding the veges. Fill the stone layer from the protruding pipe at the top once or twice a week until the overflow pipe starts to flow and job done.
