24.01.2022 "Workers own the wealth - isn't it time we owned the future too?" Earthworker co-founder Dave Kerin & Secretary Dan Musil argue that democratisation of our #superannuation system is critical to ensure no-one is left behind, and that retirees have a liveable planet (not just a marginally bigger bank balance) to reitre into. Check out their new opinion piece in Jacobin magazine magazine ( www . jacobinmag. com /2021/02/australia-superannuation-democratize-funds )... What do you reckon? #economic #democracy ##auspol2021 #EconomicJustice #ClimateCrisis See more

24.01.2022 This is very exciting. We've been following, and strongly support the important work of the Hunter Jobs Alliance. When working-class politics are at the head of the environmental movement, we’ll all win

22.01.2022 Starting a Worker Cooperative. A 10 Week Course, Tuesday nights, 7-9.30pm. Starting the 27th April This work is designed to help you know, deep in your bones, that you can do this. You can be a part of a worker cooperative, you could even start one yourself... with a few others. ... Worker Cooperatives are rare in our culture, we don't see them, we don't know them, we can't imagine ourselves within them... YET, when we look at what they are, the worker owned cooperative is a powerful antidote to much of what is wrong with work, employment, management, corporate extractive practices. In a world that is just getting worse, maybe it's time to do things differently. SEIZE the MEANS of PRODUCTION. Own the work, with a worker owned cooperative. Whether gardening, coding, caring, cleaning or building is your thing, doing it within a cooperative means you can engage the whole of yourself to do the work you really want to do.

17.01.2022 Well isn't this awesome! You can grab a copy of Sam Wallman's brilliant tribute to the late BLF leader Jack Mundey - who is a massive inspiration for our project - AND the proceeds go to Earthworker! Check out this moving piece, and more of Sam's work below.

16.01.2022 "Climate change is real and so are workers' rights. If we can tackle both at the same time we'll all be better off". And EVEN BETTER if we: "invest heavily in women-dominated care sectors in impacted communities to provide local economic and social benefits", and "fund a massive expansion of social housing and a massive upgrade of public housing to make it energy efficient and help tenants save on energy costs" (2 other great recommendations in Victorian Trades Hall Council's "Transition from Crisis Action Plan")

13.01.2022 Our friends at 888 Co-operative Causeway have been promoting the campaign of credit co-operative Timor Leste activist Lanu DE Sousa. You can support purchase of food, emergency shelter, and clothing - all urgently needed especially for the most vulnerable families affected by this disastrous event. The delivery of this support will be coordinated by local cooperative - Koperativa Kreditu Mnatu Bitimo - KKMB - based in Dili.

10.01.2022 From Last years NENA conference, this was an offering made about Engaging the Resistance with Cooperatives! Love some feedback. As we prepare for term 2, 3 and 4 of 2021 Starting a Workers Cooperative 10 week course, please let us know if you have some where we can deliver this work. Neighbourhood Houses, Community centres, Secondary Schools as extra curriculum! We can bring it almost anywhere. Also working on a BootCamp type learning for those that are collected around a strong idea and want to see it made real into a worker cooperative!

10.01.2022 Friends of the Earth have launched a new report on the job-creation potential of Victorian climate policies at the Gippsland office of Australia's first propose...d offshore wind farm, the Star of the South. Setting science-based Emissions Reduction Targets will create thousands of jobs for Victorians and bolster the case for building visionary projects such as the Star of the South offshore wind farm," said Leigh Ewbank. 08.01.2022 Here's a great little piece about the Earthworker Energy Manufacturing Cooperative in Gippsland (made more urgent with the recent announcement of Yallourn Power Station's closure) and our work for co-operative economies far and wide.

07.01.2022 Great to see #coops, #manufacturing, #democracy & #climatechange linked in this ripper article about Earthworker Energy Manufacturing Cooperative! And great to see some coverage Redgum Cleaning Cooperative, Hope Co-op and Cooperative Power too.

04.01.2022 Here's a thoughtful article by long-time Earthworker comrade Antony, about how co-ops (the 'original social enterprises') fit in discussions about social enterprise and economic transformation.

03.01.2022 Join us with 888 Co-operative Causeway, veteran community-builder Basil Varghese, and Earthworker Secretary Dan, for a discussion of Earthworker's vision for more just, #sustainable, #democratic #cooperative economies. Should be a good little discussion!

02.01.2022 There isn’t a lot of reflection in our world of what it looks like to work inside a worker cooperative. By the end of this 10 week course we hope you can see yourself being enabled to see the whole process of starting a worker owned cooperative!! There is some work to do, but it’s good and deeply satisfying to create this next chapter of what it is that we can be, together.
