22.01.2022 At Earworx, we go on and on about earwax all the time; after all, its our bread and butter, and is what we deal with almost all day, every day. But what actually is earwax? The name earwax is actually pretty misleading its not comprised of wax at all! Instead, earwax is made up from secretions of oil and sweat as well as dead skin cells, dust, dirt and hair. Gross, right? https://bit.ly/2FVkUiw
20.01.2022 Our earwax can vary in colour and consistency, but what do these differences mean? and should you be worried about yours? Find out more about earwax and what you can do to ensure healthy ears in our blog post: https://bit.ly/3tkM5qe
20.01.2022 Most of the time, people dont give their earwax a second thought; or they even consciously try to not think about it. And lets face it earwax can be a pretty gross substance. But it is also an essential part of our ears ecosystem and can even tell us a lot about ourselves. This interview with Earworxs very own Lisa Hellwege (Director) uncovers some of the most fascinating facts about earwax and what is says about you. http://bit.ly/2U5NNvC
19.01.2022 https://issuu.com/citynews/docs/210318_citynews/26 If you live or are visiting the Canberra area and have a blocked ear - why not give Earworx a call?
19.01.2022 Did you know? Not only are your inner ears responsible for your ability to hear, they also enable you to balance. Thats why ear diseases or built-up earwax can affect both!
18.01.2022 To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, Earworx has made the decision to temporarily close our Tasmanian and Sydney clinics. This was not an easy decision but, ultimately, the health and safety of our wonderful clients is our top priority. For our Tasmanian clinics, our last day of operation will be Tuesday 31 March. All appointments prior and inclusive of that date will still go ahead subject to any government directives over the weekend. If you have an appointment after Tue...sday, we will be in touch to see whether its possible to see you prior to the closure. For our Bondi Junction clinic in Sydney, Friday 27 March was our last day of operation. As our Canberra clinics operate within medical centres through our partnership with Fullerton Health, they will be following local guidelines regarding whether they are able to continue operations and which services they can continue to provide. The team at Earworx would like to send all of our clients our sincerest well wishes and urge you all to stay home, stay safe and look after yourselves during this difficult time. We thank you all for your understanding and will let you know as soon as we are able to re-open our clinics.

17.01.2022 Did you know? Earwax acts as a moisturiser to keep your ears from itching or flaking. So put down those cotton buds which can strip the ear of wax and moisture.
16.01.2022 Cleverly, our ears are designed to self-clean; wax is carried out of the ear via a conveyor belt motion of the superficial skin layer. Great! But whilst for the majority of the population this system works very well, where do you seek help if this self-cleaning mechanism doesnt work? What are the lifestyle factors that may contribute to a build up of wax? What are the symptoms of wax build up? And what are some home remedies you can try? http://bit.ly/38VHn7N
15.01.2022 Ear Health Tip You should NEVER put cotton buds or anything similar in your ears to remove earwax. Stick to using them for cleaning the outer ear only, or for cosmetic purposes #earhealth.
15.01.2022 If youre looking for at-home treatments for ears blocked with wax especially if youre self-isolating and are unable to get to an Earworx clinic dont be tempted by the cotton bud. This will usually only make the problem worse by pushing wax further down and can even damage your ear canal or drum. Instead, try some safe at-home methods, such as wax softening drops, to provide some temporary relief from the discomfort blocked ears cause. https://bit.ly/Clean-Ears

13.01.2022 Whilst it’s been proven that excessive earphone use can lead to hearing loss, for many earphones have become an essential part of modern life. If you’re a parent concerned about your child’s earphone addiction, it might be worth trying to reduce the risk rather than asking them to stop using earphones altogether. There are multiple ways to keep using earphones but in a safer, less damaging way. https://cnet.co/2TjxcEB

The micro-suction technique is a completely dry procedure - that makes it suitable for everyone including those with perforated eardrums, grommets, or those prone to ear infection. The wax is also removed under ‘direct observation’ meaning there is direct vision down the ear canal during the entire procedure, enhancing safety. 01.01.2022 Blocked ears and excess wax build up can be caused by hearing aids. This helps explain why blocked ears are so common among the geriatric population. In a healthy ear, ear wax is naturally carried out the ear by a ‘conveyor belt-like’ motion of the superficial skin layer in the ear canal and is assisted by movement of our jaw through chewing and talking. Hearing aids, however, can impede this natural process. While hearing aids can cause wax build up, regular wax removal appo...intments can mitigate any problems caused by this and maximise hearing aid function. https://bit.ly/3maRe0L
