09.01.2022 Members of the ESC Portfolio Management Team (John Bennett, Tanja Grabowski and Zaine Allen) have developed a traffic management measure using modelling on the Sydney Harbour Bridge for northbound on-ramp traffic as part of the Western Distributor Integration Works project. The proposed measure is aimed to dynamically maintain and maximise the continuous flow of traffic coming from the Western Distributor using a moveable median, which governs merging behaviours between Kent... Street, Clarence Street and Cahill Expressway traffic. A 7-day trial run was conducted on-the-ground with support from the Transport Management Centre, which showed strong comparison forecast by the traffic modelling in terms of performance and implementation strategy. The team has also submitted an abstract for this work in late November 2019 for the upcoming 2020 AITPM Conference to be held in Brisbane next year.
