25.01.2022 Change in Generations I was doing some research for a book I’m producing on the community I live in, searching the John Oxley Library collection I found this im...age. It's not the original print in fact I think it's a copy of a copy print- a 6th generation. The original negative was the first and every time it’s printed or copied it creates subsequent generations each losing detail and sharpness. By pure good fortune I stumbled across the original 13cm x 8cm negative ( 1st generation ), Scanned it ( 2nd generation ) and this is the result. Sometimes the best solution to restore or preserve an image lies with finding the best version, you may not have it but someone else may. I will send the new version and negative to the John Oxley Library

23.01.2022 Brisbane Airport has a long history, it was known as Eagle Farm in its early days and later the suburb of Cribb Island was resumed to allow construction on the ...current site. We were commissioned by Brisbane Airport Hotels to find, restore and produce a series of display prints that reflected that history for display in their conference facility near the domestic terminal. As the prints were going to be used quite large, the largest was 2 metres wide, we dedicated a lot of research time to finding the best originals possible to ensure we achieved the quality needed. With help from the John Oxley Library, the National Library in Canberra and the Qantas Museum we managed in most cases to track back to the original prints. This is a small selection from that project and if you are interested to know where Cribb Island was. it sat between what is now the two main runways of BNE and in 1916 you could have secured a beach front lot with a 1 deposit, you got the sandflies for free. Trivia fact the Gibb brothers (the Bee Gees) grew up on Cribb Island

21.01.2022 My career has given me much and I’m fortunate to be in a position or stage of life where I can give a little back to the community that has supported us. Yesterday I attended the opening of the newly refurbished local BreastScreen clinic. Liaising with Wishlist, a charity aimed at improving local health services, Judy and I donated a suite of 60 decor images to be used throughout their consultation and treatment rooms. Understanding it can be a confronting time for women bein...g screened the images are designed to offer a soothing distraction during their visit. Ironically someone very close to Judy had a mastectomy on the same day. We proudly support 6 local charities or philanthropic bodies, each offer a different benefit to the community but perhaps none more important than one aimed at saving life.

09.01.2022 40+ years in the profession of photography has taught me the importance of the still image in documenting life, history, stories and how easily they can be lost We have launched Restory as a service with one aim, we offer solutions to restore and preserve important documents and photographs for family and business to ensure future generations are not denied their visual legacy. https://www.restory.com.au/
