03.01.2022 Prior to the completion of the iconic brutalist Westrail Centre building, a temporary steel structure was constructed in the carpark adjacent (roughly where the S class locomotive is now plinthed). The building was later moved to the Midland Workshops around 1976 and used for overhauling bogies.
