25.01.2022 Bulk of ply cut out, now to chase out the rest.

25.01.2022 Ran a cut around the edges and out she fell... this job just got a whole lot bigger!! Luckily the owner was prepared for the worst and has now given us the opportunity to explore and work with some of the composite material from Thermo-lite, both for the transom, stringers and floor.

24.01.2022 Question for you Leigh, and anyone else, in the corner under deck where it meets the transom, on both sides, is a copper rod about 4" long going into transom, what is it there for??

22.01.2022 Signs of a waterlogged transom, black damp ply exposed on starboard side and a pool of water and wet ply on port side.

22.01.2022 This is why it's important to remove all old filler and get back to the original glass work before refitting a new transom, this is original ply buried under bog in its last repair. A lot of extra work on the tools, but the only way to go.

20.01.2022 Cutting a section from the transom top shell to allow us to fit the new 38mm thick Thermo-lite board in one piece for the transom. I've been assured by the supplier's of Thermo-lite that a 38mm transom can easily handle up to 600HP.

18.01.2022 That's all the ply out of the transom gone, now we need to remove the bog, fillets and grind all the dodgy glasswork back to clean glass.

18.01.2022 Progress video of transom repair to Savage Surveyor, just mucking about with the technology!

14.01.2022 Starboard side has a bit less rot, but "Getting rid of the lot" Leigh.

12.01.2022 Thanks to Stewart Rankin from Gabo Marine for lending the owner the proper lifting eye for us to remove and hang the motor.

12.01.2022 Removed cover strip and looks like the transom ply has delaminated.

05.01.2022 Living the dream!!

02.01.2022 So that's all the bearers and excess fiberglass cut away, now its time to get the grinder out and get back to the original glasswork. I'm leaving the middle floor in situ until i finish grinding as it is a good platform to work off rather than squatting on the bare hull.
