20.01.2022 Today we remember our war dead and those who served, both yolngu and balanda. It is 75 years since the end of the Second World War. This photo is of Noel Kentish and Banambi at the opening of the new War Memorial in Milingimbi in 2017. Noel Kentish’s father, Rev Len Kentish from Goulburn Island, was captured from the ship, Patricia Cam, and beheaded by the Japanese, but Yolngu such as Babawun from Milingimbi and Narritjan from Yirrkala, who were also on-board, were our war heroes, helping to save many other balanda crew from the ship when it was sunk in our waters.

09.01.2022 Have a look at the office renovations at Ramingining! In response to the current pandemic of COVID-19, East Arnhem Regional Council was successful in obtaining funding through the Northern Territory Government’s Special Community Assistance and Local Employment (SCALE) program. This, along with the Council’s Capital Funding, has allowed the reception areas of Council’s nine offices across East Arnhem Land to be upgraded to assist in reducing the impacts of COVID-19. The Council has also taken the opportunity to upgrade entrances to allow accessibility for individuals with disabilities, and improve the aesthetics and nature of the reception areas for the public. Bukmak Constructions (APLA) were engaged for the Ramingining renovations, with the work now complete and office open to the public.
