21.01.2022 Congratulations to @finnmaginness_ and the Maginness family on Finn’s debut against the Western Bulldogs tomorrow. Finn played over 100 games with the Vampires since he started running around in the U9s. He follows his father to the Hawks Scott who played 131 games at the top level. Well done to @hawthornfc for keeping one of the great traditions going in the AFL by using the father son drafting mechanism in the 2019 National Draft. Good luck in the big match!

21.01.2022 To the Vampires Community, SMJFL Resolution Season 2020 On Wednesday, 15th of July, after consultation with all member clubs, the SMJFL advised us that they will no longer pursue the coordination of a traditional football season for 2020. This decision takes into account the Victorian Government's current lockdown restrictions and the anticipated period of time before they're eased. ... The SMJFL will continue to consult with its member clubs over the coming weeks and endeavour to offer optional alternative programs. The Club are also committed to finding alternatives, if and when government restrictions allow. Alternative programs may include: Intra and Inter-Club matches Round Robins Lightning Carnivals. AFL 9s; and School holiday games The resolution that the League is no longer able to provide a traditional season format in 2020 has not been reached easily. Everyone involved in community sport understands that football brings so much joy to the kids and their families who support and watch them. We understand that football and fitness are crucial for mental health and well-being. Club Financials For our current financial members, the Committee is working towards a position regarding Club Refunds or a Credit Policy for the season 2021. As part of our decision making, we are required to take into account expenses incurred to date which include, but aren't limited to: A non-refundable administration fee paid to SportsTG for processing each player registration New training tops & match day apparel Footballs and training equipment Administration & Utilities Insurance Coaching and First Aid accreditation courses Medical supplies We will communicate our decision on this matter shortly. Our Volunteer Football Operations On behalf of the Committee and the members, I would like to acknowledge the work done by our Football Operations Department led by Karen Kimber and the Age Group Co-Ordinator Cohort, Coaches and Assistant Coaches. We don't have a Club without the enormous time and effort this group of people puts in to get our players ready to run out on the ground. Stay Safe and stay well. Go Vampires! Jarrod Hall President

20.01.2022 Merch stall on today 4-6pm. New players - please bring age verification ID (passport or birth certificate). #govampires

19.01.2022 Good evening Vampires community, We would like to draw your attention to a Special Council Meeting that is being held on Thursday 17th December at 6.30 pm. The... Agenda for this meeting has been made public and contained on page 295, is Motion 305. Cr. Hanna El Mouallem of Dendy Ward has proposed the following motion to be considered by Council: 1. Continues to construct the Elsternwick Park Oval 4 sportsground in accordance with its decision of 15 September 2020 2. Not proceed with the construction of a pavilion, permanent access road, and sportsground lighting 3. Receives a further report to the April 2021 Council Meeting to consider the possible location and cost of constructing a public toilet to service Oval 4 and the existing playground and other facilities 4. Reallocates any remaining project funds to suitable community projects as part of Council's 2021-22 budget development process. While it is encouraging to see that the re-construction of EP#4 sportsground will continue as per the Council decision in 2018, the proposal to not proceed with the construction of a pavilion, access road, and lighting is perplexing at best. What is being proposed is that consideration will be given to the construction of a public toilet to service EP#4. A public toilet. This is wholly unacceptable and would overturn the previous Council decision made in 2018. Does Cr. El Mouallem expect our wonderful coaches to give their half time team address next to the urinal? Is the defibrillator going to be stored in one of the cubicles? What happens if one of our players is injured during a game - do they just lay on the ground somewhere? Where are the goal post pads going to be stored during the week? How does an ambulance, if required, get access to the ground during winter? It's also hard to train in the dark. This motion lacks any understanding of how community sport works. As parents and members of our community, the experience of watching junior sport is only enhanced by the facilities our Council provides. Next step - the Councillors need to hear from you as concerned community members. They are under enormous pressure from various lobby groups to overturn the decision made in 2018. We need to match this with our voices. Contact them as soon as possible to express your views. Details for each of your elected representatives are as follows: Ivison Ward > Cr Sonia Castelli - [email protected] / 0466 356 794 Bleazby Ward > Cr Alex del Porto - [email protected] / 0417 390 641 Boyd Ward > Cr Fiona Stitfold - [email protected] / 0409 608 419 Ebden Ward > Cr Laurence Evans - [email protected] / 0407 735 993 Castlefield Ward > Cr Jo Samuel-King - [email protected] / 0419 772 291 Dendy Ward > Cr Hanna El Mouallem - [email protected] / 0437 859 978 Beckett Ward > Cr Clarke Martin - [email protected] / 0466 356 805

09.01.2022 Good evening Vampires Community, Further to our recent correspondence regarding the upcoming local council election in Bayside we are writing to you regarding our endorsement of the candidate for Bleazby Ward, Karen Kimber. As a Bayside resident for the past 22 years, Karen has strong ties within Bleazby Ward, built on years of Community service. ... As an experienced teacher for over 30 years Karen is an articulate and effective communicator who will work hard to support the culture, community connection, and activity for all ages. As a working mother with 5 children, from 12 to 25, she is passionate about providing a positive experience for them all. She has been a part of the Gardenvale Primary School community since 2000 and has served on the Parents Association and School Council, including terms as Vice President and the President of the Council. An active family, over the years Karen's family has been part of the Brighton Soccer Club, The Firbank Swim School, Brighton Surf Life Saving Club, Netball at Thomas Street, The Brighton Wolves, Brighton Union Cricket Club, and the East Brighton Vampires JFC. Many of you will know Karen through her involvement at the Vampires through her endless hours working the BBQ at the canteen or getting 40 + teams out on the field in her role as Football Operations Manager. Karen is putting up her hand because she is motivated by giving service to her local community. She wants to represent our local area and ensure that all members of the community have both passive and active open spaces for healthy participation in sport to facilitate a lifelong love of physical activity. We can't think of any other candidate who has this demonstrated track record of community service. If you have any questions regarding Karen's candidacy for Bleazby Ward you can contact her on [email protected] or via her mobile 0425 856 420. Stay safe. Stay well. Jarrod Hall President Kimber 4 Bleazby - Bayside Council

09.01.2022 Good evening Vampires Community, Further to our previous correspondence regarding the Bayside Council Elections, the East Brighton Vampires JFC are endorsing the following candidates: Dendy Ward - Michael Heffernan... Bleazby Ward - Karen Kimber Castlefield Ward - Rob Grinter Boyd Ward - Craig Francis or Colleen Harkin Ivison Ward - Marlene Johnson Ebden Ward - Laurie Evans Beckett Ward - Clarke Martin This link allows you to understand your candidates' declared agenda: https://www.vec.vic.gov.au//bayside-city-counc/nominations While the Vampires and community sport, in general, is non-political the harsh reality is that our future as a healthy and engaged community sports club is determined by the support of the Bayside City Council. With the Council elections this week, this is our opportunity to use our collective voice and vote for candidates who share similar values and understand the contribution of sport in our community. With this in mind, we have reviewed the credentials of the candidates and have established a shortlist of those who will promote and support sporting interests in Bayside. There are around 60 candidates standing. This is the third-highest number of candidates for any municipality in Victoria. Many of these candidates do not live in the ward in which they are standing and believe that organised sport takes up too much open space. Many of these candidates believe that our sporting fields are under-utilised and have been "over-invested" in with pavilion upgrades in recent years. Many of the candidates are "dummy" candidates and represent single interest groups who are frankly anti-sport and do not see the overall benefits of sport. Some of these candidates have declared they support only "passive recreation", which means that reserves are available for use but not by organised community clubs such as the Vampires. Our values are predicated on our scarce and finite open space being a precious asset to be shared to benefit both passive and active users. Our community is stronger through the participation and engagement of children, parents, and grandparents in our Club contributing to all our physical and mental health. Never has that been more evident than in 2020. Our club's values are founded on Australian Rules Football being accessible to all ages, genders, and abilities. The 2020 Bayside elections could potentially see the election of an anti-sport council. Let's use our collective voice to ensure this does not happen. Kind Regards Jarrod Hall President
