14.01.2022 In our centenary year we are pleased to share the story of Steve Wood who was a member from the early 1970's for around 10 years. Steve was Men's singles champion at the club in 1979 and 1980. He was also member of the Club's Grade A Pennant champion team in 1980.... Steve was awarded a Tennis scholarship to San Diego University in the US in 1981. He played on the ATP tour between 1985 and 1987 and his highest singles ranking was 495. He moved his career into senior business roles and in 2005 he joined Tennis Australia as its CEO. He held that role until 2013.
14.01.2022 Dear members, great news earlier today from the State Government regarding Tennis. Restrictions are being eased to allow limited outdoor tennis coaching and recreational play. Please refer the announcement from Tennis Victoria in case you have not seen it. We have to wait to see under what conditions the club can open from both Sport and Recreation Victoria and Boroondara City Council.... The Council have sent us a checklist to complete regarding re-opening which we are submitting back to them tonight. As soon as we understand the conditions we will write to all members. Regards, Roger Gill President
14.01.2022 In our centenary year we are pleased to share the story of Anne Minter who was a member from the early 1970's for around 10 years. Anne was Ladies singles champion 4 times from 1977 to 1980. Internationally her career spanned 11 years from 1981 to 1992. Her best performances at the Grand Slams were as follows:... Australian Open: Quarter final (1988) French Open: Third round (1987) Wimbledon: Fourth round (1988 and 1991) US Open: Third round (1984, 1988 and 1989) Her highest singles ranking was 23 in 1988. Anne played 23 Federation Cup ties for Australia. In 1984 she led Australia to the final of the World Group where Australia lost narrowly to Czechoslovaklia. Anne also represented Australia at the 1988 Olympic Games reaching the second round. She is therefore the first Olympian to come from the club!
14.01.2022 In our centenary year we are pleased to share the story of Kerry Harris who was a member from the early 1960's to 1971. In 1968 Kerry started on the International Tennis tour, the first in the open era, and she was chosen to be a part of Lawn Tennis Association of Australia's touring team with Harry Hopman as manager. In singles, Kerry's best performances at the Grand Slams were as follows:... Australian Open: Semi final (1972) French Open: Third round (1968) Wimbledon: Fourth round (1969 and 1972) US Open: Third round (1971) In doubles, Kerry made 4 grand slam finals, winning the 1972 Australian Open. In 1973 and 1974 she teamed up with fellow former East Camberwell Tennis Club member Kerry Melville and were runners up in the Australian Open! I think we can probably safely say that this was a first for the club. Having two former members team up and reach two grand slam doubles finals! Will we see it again?

04.01.2022 Hi ECTC folks. A quick update on the Council's bike path project. Work is continuing, although it has slowed because they cannot have too many workers on site at once. Our walkway to get to the back courts and internal fencing is almost finished. They are nearly ready to start putting the concrete (?) down for the bike path. Some photos attached.
