22.01.2022 ECCC on behalf of George Georgiou. Many thanks to all who helped with the sausage sizzle at Bunnings yesterday. A lot of hard work was put in by all which made it a successful fundraiser, helped by the wonderful weather and lots of hungry customers. Many of us would still be feeling tired the next day. A couple of runs to the supermarket were made to replenish supplies and we exceeded the amount we raised last year. Jack Sabatino got up early to help me pick up the bread,... snags and sliced onions, before joining Gianni Fogale, Dean Gazelle and Frank Rechichi to help set up at 7am. Sam Gallo, Con Jordanidis & Anthony Rechichi turned up to take over for the 9am shift, then Vita and Sue, Michael Athanasidis, Nancy Wain and Dominic Perrone came for the later shifts. Thanks to Frank who was at the BBQ cooking snags & onions all day, with Sam along side him until the end. They did a sterling job. Jordo kindly gave some BBQ tips on finishing his shift. All in all it was a great day and all did a fantastic job! See more

14.01.2022 Cricket Victoria Return to Play Cricket Victoria have updated the Return to Train and Play guidelines (2 August 2020) The key message at the start of document is: ... "This guide has been established to support Clubs and Associations in planning for a return to training and playing cricket when Victorian Government restrictions and health advice allows. This is a guide only and will be updated based on State Government advice when the current Stage 4 (Metropolitan Melbourne) and Stage 3 (Regional areas) are eased to a point allowing training and/or playing to recommence. As of 2 August 2020, community cricket is not permitted in any form in Victoria. This includes all forms of training and matches. This will be in place until 13 September. Cricket Victoria and your Peak Bodies (the VCCL, VMCU, VSDCA) strongly encourage all members of cricket clubs in Victoria to adhere to the laws and directions of the Chief Health Officer. While exercise is permitted (with certain restrictions), we strongly urge all community cricketers to stay home when practicing cricket specific skills i.e. catching. While clearly this is very different preparation to what we have known previously, this COVID-19 period has highlighted the need for flexibility and creativity. Ideas for younger players can be found on the Cricket Blast YouTube Channel. Our aim is to ensure training and playing resumes smoothly when safe to do so. For that to happen in a timely manner will require a team effort. So please, follow the State Government and health advice and look out for your teammates." #staysafe https://www.cricketvictoria.com.au/covid-19-return-to-trai/

14.01.2022 ADIL IMRAN: T20 TRIBUTE MATCH - Sunday 28 February 2021 As we all know we lost a friend, team mate and one of our own in Adil Imran. Game starts at 1.00PM Dinner will be supplied after the match for supporters at a cost of $10. Shoaib Khan has organised a team of Adil’s friends from other clubs and David Vandenberg has assembled the East Coburg Legends, brimming with legends and some young players, to take on the might of the Melbourne Pakistan Eagles. No matter if you have played one or 300 games, please come along to support this fundraiser for Adil’s family. We are aiming to raise $1,500. 09.01.2022 To East Coburg Cricket Club Players, Over the last few days both NWMCA and the VTCA have published the following relating to return to play. This is not set in stone but a plan if things stay on track (as per Government Communications). In summary, planning to commence training is for October 26 with return to play Nov 14 or Nov 21.... - VTCA (potential start Nov 21) - NWMCA (potential start Nov 14) Both competitions will use a one-day format at this stage. A more detailed overview for NWMCA can be found below and includes direction about playing in relation to COVID as stated by Cricket Victoria. All players should review this update: https://youtu.be/X9aznjmm0J8 The Board at East Coburg as per the competition(s) strongly advises all to undertake a free Infection Control training session. Below is the link for the COVID training, you will need to register and then complete the Infection Control section only. This is a free course and will take about 10-15 minutes to complete. Once completed the participant will receive a certificate please forward to the East Coburg Email ([email protected]). Training Link: https://www.health.gov.au//covid-19-infection-control-trai Why are we doing this? COVID management is a whole of club approach. Whilst return to play is looking much more positive there are many processes and protocols that will be enforced from the Cricket bodies different to previous seasons (Cricket Australia, Cricket Victoria, VTCA and NWCA) and Council. Failure to comply will have repercussions and potentially stop the season so everyone needs to be on board and understand. Further information with more certainty will be provided in the coming weeks. East Coburg Cricket Club Board

01.01.2022 Cricket Umpires Wanted At our recent AGM held in July I addressed the club delegates with regard to umpire recruitment with a view of looking to our club’s to assist with recruitment of umpires from within their club’s. We have since had a few enquiries from people associated with our club’s which is pleasing. At the AGM I mentioned that we may not have enough numbers to be able to appoint an official umpire to all first eleven games. At this stage with the numbers we have th...is will still be the case. We are asking all club’s to assist with advertising for umpires within their clubs. This could be in the form of an email to your members and or an entry on your website or simply by word of mouth to anyone you may believe may consider becoming an umpire. The plan moving forward is to try and increase our umpire numbers to field umpires across more grades and ultimately two umpires for all first eleven games. As I mentioned in my letter in July the VTCA will offer reduced affiliation fees for all club’s that produce umpires. We offer off field training in the form of monthly meetings which are attended by all umpires which are held at the Deer Park Club on Ballarat Road in Deer Park, the Deer Park Club is our umpire sponsor. The next umpires training meeting is scheduled for Monday the 16th of September 7.00pm. We also offer on field game day training with senior panel umpires as required. Payments for umpires range from $130 to $150 per game day which is paid directly to the umpire in cash by the participating club’s on game day. I hope you can assist, in the meantime if you have any questions or require any further information please do not hesitate to call me on 0417 055729 Joe Polzella Umpires Director
