25.01.2022 Have you seen #missingperson Ruben Gardiol? Mr Gardiol has been missing since Friday 30 October 2020. He was last seen leaving his Randwick home about 7.40am in his black Holden ute, which was later located at Kurnell. His step-daughter, Fran Villegas, joined Eastern Beaches Police Area Commander, Detective Superintendent Rohan Cramsie, in an appeal for assistance to help find him.... Investigators are appealing to anyone who might have visited Kurnell between 6.30am on Friday 30 October and 2pm Friday 6 November 2020 or may have dashcam footage of Mr Gardiol’s distinctive ute, which was parked on Prince Charles Parade to contact police. 23.01.2022 Police will issue four Penalty Infringement Notices (PINs) following an alleged breach of Ministerial Directions under the Public Health Act in Sydney’s east overnight. About 12.30am today (Sunday 22 November 2020), officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command, with assistance from the Central Metropolitan Operations Support Group (OSG), responded to reports of a loud party at Malabar Headland National Park. On arrival, police observed at least 150 people inside a disuse...d military bunker, before the group scattered and attempted to run from the area. Officers spoke with the organisers, four men aged 34, 28 and two aged 25 who will all be issued $1000 PINs for fail to comply with noticed direction in relation to s 7/8/9 COVID-19. Eastern Beaches Police Area Commander, Detective Superintendent Rohan Cramsie, said police continue to appeal to the community to report suspected breaches which may impact on the health and safety of the community. It is the responsibility of everyone in this state to follow the rules and keep our community safe from further exposure to COVID-19, Det Supt Cramsie said. Not only are events like this illegal, this particular party was extremely dangerous for partygoers and emergency service personnel due to the location and terrain. With summer and the Christmas season approaching, we urge the community to listen to the advice of our health professionals to keep our family and friends safe and well, Det Supt Cramsie said. 19.01.2022 Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command have located the car of a man missing from Sydney’s east are appealing for public help as they continue to sea...rch for him. Ruben Gardiol, aged 67, was last seen by a family member after leaving his house on Clovelly Road, Randwick, about 7.40am last Friday (30 October 2020). Police were notified when Ruben failed to return home that night and have commenced inquiries to locate him. Concerns are held for his welfare as his disappearance is considered out of character. Ruben is described as being of South American appearance, about 170cm tall, of slim build, with an olive complexion, grey hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and jeans. He was driving a black Holden Commodore utility with NSW registration AG 86 ZV, which was located by police about 2.00pm on Friday 6 November 2020 at Prince Charles Parade, Kurnell. Investigators are appealing to anyone who might have visited Kurnell between 6.30am on Friday 30 October and 2.00pm Friday 6 November 2020 and may have dash-cam footage of Mr Gardiol’s distinctive car travelling in the area to contact police. Linda is described as being of East Asian appearance, about 170cm tall, of medium build with shoulder-length dyed blonde hair. 10.01.2022 SCAM ALERT! We’ve had several reports of scammers calling people from what appear to be trusted NSW Police Force numbers and threatening the call recipients with fines or arrest. These scammers are using technology to make it appear that the calls originate from legitimate police phone numbers; a practice known as ID spoofing. The caller impersonates a NSW Police Force officer and states that the person receiving the call has an outstanding fine or warrant. The scammer demand...s a form of payment to prevent arrest or further court action. The NSW Police Force will never call a member of the public and demand payment over the phone in order to avoid going to court or being arrested. If you get an unexpected call from someone who states they're from the police, and starts asking for personal details or threatens you, please hang up. 06.01.2022 This morning, Wednesday 25th November 2020, Eastern Beaches Police Area Commander, Detective Superintendent Rohan Cramsie, joined a group led by Randwick City Council Mayor Danny Said and NSW Police Corporate Sponsor for Domestic and Family Violence, Assistant Commissioner Mark Jones, to walk from High Cross Park at Randwick to Grant Reserve at Coogee to raise awareness about domestic and family violence. The ‘Step Out, Speak Out’ walk marked the beginning of 16 days of activ...ism. Members of the community are encouraged to complete the walk in their own time and help share the message by taking a photo of the walk and posting, ‘I stepped out to end Domestic Violence #StepOutSpeakOut2020’ and tag Randwick City Council and NSW Police Force. 04.01.2022 Eastern Beaches Police Area Command are appealing to the public for assistance into the investigation of an assault that occurred on a licensed premises in Coogee about 8:30pm on Monday 19th October 2020. Police have obtained CCTV images and would like to speak to two persons, a male and female who they believe may be able to assist them with their inquiries. The male is described as being of Pacific Islander appearance, with a medium build, approximately 170-180cm tall with ...dark hair. He was seen wearing grey shorts, a blue and red jacket and a blue cap. The female is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a slim build, blonde hair, approximately 170cm tall and was wearing a white shirt and skirt. 01.01.2022 ARREST: ATO SCAMMER Man charged after retired nurse loses 15k in phone scam - Eastern Beaches A man will face court today (20/3/2021) charged over an alleged phone scam that defrauded a retired Sydney nurse of $15,000 last month.... On Wednesday 17 February 2021, a 66-year-old woman reportedly received a phone call, from an unknown woman, claiming to be from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Investigators have been told the caller threatened the woman with arrest before transferring her to a man, claiming to be a police officer. The woman was intimidated over a number of hours before withdrawing $15,000 from her account. About 1.30pm, a man attended the woman’s Randwick home and she was able to obtain a photo of him before handing over the money. The woman reported the incident to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command, who commenced an investigation. Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 21-year-old man at Maroubra Police Station yesterday (Friday 19 March 2021). He was charged with dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception. The Wollongong man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 20 March 2021). Police would like to remind the public to take the following precautions to reduce the risk of being scammed by cold-callers: If you receive a threatening phone call (and demanding money), hang up immediately; Do not disclose personal details to the caller; Never provide your personal or banking details to a person who calls you; Never provide your financial PIN or account passwords to anyone; Do not make any payments to the caller, either via phone, internet, or cash; If you are suspicious about the credentials of a person on the phone, ask questions of them. If they avoid answering or refuse to provide information, hang up; Don’t let scammers pressure you scammers use detailed scripts to convince you that they’re the real deal and create a high-pressure situation to make a decision on the spot; If you think you have provided your account details to a scammer, contact your bank or financial institution immediately; and Contact police immediately to report the incident.
